I was waiting for an uncomfortable preachy "Christian" movie, but the acting
was excellent and the story twisted around me and I almost cried
straight through the last half hour of this movie. Each and every
character was very motivated, and the plot and character development
played out at a good pace. Characters that hatred which later came to sympathize with
. Nobody is good or all bad; his actual trial.
Their actions made perfect sense, in retrospect, given their experiences and
its isolation. Their accents took a little time to get used to
, however. We found that we had to use subtitles to follow
everything that was happening. Once we got used to them, however, we
involved in the story. The flashbacks at the end of the film was particularly heartbreaking
. He was emotionally drained and delighted by the
time you finish this movie. It is a must-see.
I saw a pre-selection for "last Easter Sin" land is a wonderful film
. The location was beautiful and the acting was outstanding - especially
by Liana Liberato and Soren Fulton. Liana was incredible
as Cadi Forbes. Other highlights: Stewart Finlay-McLennan was excellent
and brought a lot of energy and ferocity to her role as the tyrant of
the creek, Brogan Kai, and Henry Thomas was very good, because the type, < br> likeable man of God. In fact, all the actors did a very good job.
addition, Brian Bird did a phenomenal job of orchestrating the essentials,
intricate plot and back-stories of the book into a movie script. The
directing was good too.
a book character, the brother of Cadi, was left out altogether and
emphasis on the other "bad" Kai children was also left out too but it is understandable that
was necessary to give more time to
main characters and their actions. The identity of Miz Elda (Louise Fletcher
) and its relationship with Iona Kai and his friendship with
Granny Forbes has not been brought to light either, but there was no need
understand that every child, Cadi and Fagan, had a confidence
friendship with this woman. Gerven O'Dara character is not as prominent as
in the book, but once again needed
omission by the time constraints of a film. Therefore, I think there are those who, like me,
read and enjoyed the book, it will not be disappointed at all (as
sometimes happens with books being made into movies), as,
as indicated earlier, Brian Bird did an exceptional job of conveying the most important aspects
and scenes from the book into screenplay of the film.
I recommend this film, as no doubt is complementary to the
book.
Not to give away the end but things were only very slightly changed
what I remember of the book and not so harsh. I liked the
ending a lot, but have enjoyed a little longer monologue of Cadi
tells us more than what happened to the creek and some of the people, but remains tied things
together very well and was beautifully done.
Although the film does not leave you cheering, laughing or crying,
have to leave the theater very happy and hopeful, as well as
a little contemplative. Jesus is given credit for being the true, original
without eating, however, for non-Christians, the film is not preachy. This is a delightful film
and would be a good complement, when it comes out on DVD,
nobody's home library. Congratulations to all those who were involved
of pliers, make-up artists, drivers and other crew members
the cast, writers, producers and director.
