Ben Archer (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is a thug/enforcer for a criminal organization. Tiring of the work, he tells his coworkers that he's ready to retire. His wife Cynthia is a social worker for the INS. She brings a Chinese refugee girl to their home. Soon, Sun Quan (Simon Yam) wants his daughter back. Cynthia Archer is murdered, and Ben's son Nicholas disappears, along with the Chinese girl. Ben must save the children and avenge his wife's murder.

"After the death" is not a masterpiece. But it's easily the best Van Damme
from the film "Hard Target" and probably his best performance ever.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that he does not know how to act. Especially in scenes
just after his wife's death. Of course, he will not win an Oscar
anytime soon. But his performance was certainly worth more than a
direct-to-video release. Also the location is much better
that I thought it would be. Phillipe Martinez has met
a pretty nice package of a film. We received almost everything: Gun
play, car chases, nudity and a solid performance by Van Damme.
But I would like to have seen a little more history. It seems that the film is
driven primarily by the action scenes. If only we had learned a little more
about the characters, the film would have had the last contact that would
very well.
This film is better than any modern action film out at this time. This
the film is something very elegant and Leon: The Professional Training Day mixed with
intro scenes. I've never seen Van Dam to Damn! ;)
Serious and emotional. I do not remember ever seeing before mourn
in a movie. This is one of his best films and I think the public needs to stop
van Dam black list because he has made some bad
flicks in the past. Each player somewhere along the line of tripping, but the good
always find a way out and leave at the top.
IMDb vote is a mistake. Have
this a 8 / 10 Go Van Damn! Keep Kicking!
