A psychiatrist (Gere) has an affair with his patient's sister (Basinger) who is married to a Greek mobster (Roberts). The mobster is a tyrant over his wife. The psychiatrist wants her to get a divorce, but she is afraid of what her husband would do. She has a medical condition that becomes apparent when she drinks. One night she drinks anyway and attacks her husband. The psychiatrist uses his professional pull to try and help her out of the consequences of her actions, but becomes uncertain if she is telling him the truth.

This film does not start a little slow, but builds up in your order
and intensity. The way the story was told that even
highly suspect that anything is wrong until they leave. The plot twists and turns are enough to keep
on the edge of your seat. This is the kind of film Alfred Hichcock
would have done if he had still been living in 1992. At one point the fund
think it is straight out of "Vertigo". The music even Result
sounds like Bernard Herrmann. This is a very entertaning
suspense thriller "The Master" would have been proud, and I am Shure many are
entertaning.
"Final Analysis" makes for a great night of entertainment.
Painfully slow for the first hour, "Final Analysis" is a
'outdated' thriller that has little of the style that made them
flicks of black cinema 40'sy 50 ' ; s quite pleasant.

until half an hour before the end, at which time we reach such a pace that
becomes a little too much to cope. This does not mean that the
plot is bad, but the screenplay and direction are very poor.
Most of the film-attendees will be sleeping during the first half
it, and then looking at the incredulity to the conclusion. Waste
cinema.
