Following the release of Cube 2: Hypercube (2003), and playing outside the
alleged success of the original Cube (1998), Director Ernie Barbarash
takes the liberty of bringing us the third chapter in the trilogy, < br> prequel Cube Zero.
Deep in the bowels of a huge and faceless institution, time and place
unknown, two low-ranking operators, Wynn (Zachary Bennett) and Dodd
(David Huband) sit and watch the monitors in the behaviour of people
have been placed in a huge network of cameras cubic
some of which are manipulated with death traps. He said that the people they are watching
are convicted criminals who chose this deadly and terrible ordeal
in a lethal injection, these observers have had no problem with their jobs until
Wynn, a genius mathematician , Discovers that one of the prisoners,
a woman named Cassandra (Stephanie Moore) never agree to put into
the bucket. Suddenly she realized that perhaps his "work" are not
seem, and that may be part of something profoundly sick and twisted
...
For people who have seen and enjoyed the original Cube, this prequel
probably will not be to your liking. Not that history will not
have the potential, is simply that the first movie ever Cube
must be expanded. Standing alone, is a neat little psychological thriller
with very interesting concepts and a certainty about his own message.
was also very good self-contained. The problem with Cube Zero is that
destroys part of the mystique of the original,
trying to answer questions with more questions, but only what is really making a mess of what
is never necessary to fix.
What this new film has to offer, is that questions about the psychological
nature of authoritarianism and the banality of evil,
certainly are good questions to be raised, but probably should
have been done on its own merits, rather than as a continuation of a
film that did not have those aspirations.
That said, other features of the film, and act as
direction and writing, can not be terrible. There is a bleak, dark to see the film
similar to black movies such as' The Matrix 'and' Dark City ', and
that have managed to recover the feeling of claustrophobia
the first bucket. Unfortunately for Barbarash, these are not sufficient
positive qualities to save it.
The cube movies are the most inventive and satisfying creations in
budget horror films today.
The first film is still on my list of top ten and is intended to be
Classic. I was a little disappointed by the second film that had a
much more of a tour of science fiction.
however, this film returns to the grittiness of the first. Also
is that we come to see the observers of the bucket over, many connections (mostly
the first film) and secrets are revealed.
Many people say that they did not like this because jumps out around
bucket so you can not really connect with the people in the
Cube. But honestly, that history has already been done to perfection in the first film
Cube. This film is more about the button that men at work
the bucket.
This film is impressive and is a perfect sequel to the original, and much more
higher than the first sequel.
