National Treasure (3 stars Outta 5) After hearing some of the initial reviews
I was expecting something of a train wreck here. In fact,
movie is not bad at all ... affected in a sort of Saturday afternoon
time to kill. Some of the actions of the characters
strain credibility at times ... but if you just sit back and let the plot play
outside, all very entertaining. A pair of eccentric treasure hunters
pick up a woman ally along the way who are trying to strike a rich man
bad to find the greatest treasure cache of all time. Nicolas Cage gives a
driving effortless. Its men and women
sidekicks (Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha) play outside it pretty well. The
main villain (Sean Bean) is a low-key bad guy's more than we tend to see
in movies these days ... not go on and on Ranting and raving and screaming
to prove how serious it is ... it only shows what
matter of factly rather through their actions. Harvey Keitel and Jon Voigt fazer well in a couple of small roles that do not do much for his act
credit, but probably gave a boost their bank accounts. Even
I think until the end that this was indeed a Disney movie ...
much like a film adventures that used to put out in 50 years.
I was also pleasantly surprised that there were fewer stupid action stunts
than I expected. The two major scenes of acrobatics in the film (a car chase
and a ladder-cave) uncheck quite an inspiration ...
the movie wisely focuses more on plot and dialogue.
This gets my vote for the funniest movie of 2004 (along with
Indredibles). We think it is just for kiddies, but any adult
only able to go to the movies to enjoy themselves should be able to sit
, gobble popcorn, straw sucking, nibble on the ice < br> cream and just have a couple of hours without problems-mania with a good
and bad guys, daring robberies, lost treasures, romance, chases, near
escapes, rescues and disaster and everything you'd expect in this type
Bruckheimer production.
That pace is just right, the villains are just strong enough,
and valuables are noble with a roguish streak. The victim was
bit mellowed with a touch of humor ironically, and those who are not: well, just take
not cringe and, once again, have fun!
I left this movie smiling, like my wife and eldest daughter
(which would make all of us ultimately 'adults'). Since it was a smile
what we all wanted that day, we got exactly what they requested.
