Having read none of the books of Lemony Snickett, I was not sure what to expect from this film
.
film begins with a gentle introduction which quickly becomes a
humorous, but noteworthy, disclaimer that the following
film has dark underlying themes. The main characters are introduced (the three
children) and almost instantly we are subjected to news of the
first of a number, or unfortunate events. The film is fast and
children sent to a regrettable situation to another,
with Jude Law doing a splendid job of narrating the history along the way. The
children a likable characters and clever with
good chemistry between the actors. You feel you really care about each other and
have a great desire to help one another out of these incredible
situations.
real star entertainment, of course, is Jim Carrey. This film offers an ideal platform for
Mr. Carrey to do what it does best, around and goof
play above and outlandish characters. In this
role Jim Carrey is excellent, never goofing off a lot to undermine the
credibility of the character, but is conveniently on the top of the
convey eccentric old count.
Visually, the film is impressive, stare straight ahead,
a Tim Burton movie, the costumes are fantastic, the direction is splendid and
do a good job of advancing the story . The visual effects are tremendous
and are consistent with the story perfectly, never distracted or
undermines.
This film is quite dark for a film for children, but not a dark
casualty, but a dark SPOOKY at hallowe'en kind of way that children love
. Upon seeing the film reminded me Rhoal reading books like Dahl
child, with most of the top characters and
out of this world situations.
The plot of the movie is fast, but good repute
contains development and plenty of action and adventure. I would recommend this
cinema for children and adults alike.
The end credits is ten minutes of cartoons such incredible beauty
which is a great pity that most people will never see it. Simply
her some of the best entertainers to leave throughout the year.
While I give credit to the finals in 10 out of 10 I can only give the rest of the film
a begrudging 7 out of 10 although it should probably be a 6.5
. Undoubtedly this is a fantastic film well done, ie
mostly well-acted, but something is wrong in tone
your movie and so it never really is what it should be.
The story of three children who their parents are dead and who are forced to guard
as guardian of the acts of murderers Oloff
Conde is quite bleak. And with a title like "a number of Unfortunate Events"
you sure you can not expect dancing elves, but the film makers have opted to add a vein
MadCap silliness to the proceedings who works against the
rest of the film. It looks as if they were afraid that the material
would be seen as too dark, which is a shame because its clear
sequences that were fairly well that the film could only have
past on its own.
It's a good movie, rather than the big one that wants to be.
definitely worth seeing.
