Fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire), in search for an intellectual backdrop for an air-headed model, expropriates a Greenwich Village bookstore. When the photo session is over the store is left in a shambles, much to salesgirl Jo Stockton's (Audrey Hepburn) dismay. Avery stays behind to help her clean up. Later, he examines the photos taken there and sees Jo in the background of one shot. He is intrigued by her unique appearance, as is Maggie Prescott (Kay Thompson), the editor of a leading fashion magazine. They offer Jo a modeling contract, which she reluctantly accepts only because it includes a trip to Paris. Eventually, her snobbish attitude toward the job softens, and Jo begins to enjoy the work and the company of her handsome photographer.

I love everything about this movie. It was written by Leonard Gersh
About My Mother (Siegel Doe) and his love (and then husband), Richard Avedon
. It represents the mother brilliant intellect. His compassionate,
youthful energy. Forget about reading too many nuances in this movie.
Art is a diversion from reality and Leonard uses his creative license
well. I do not think to include more lines before it can be submitted
... what else to say. Fun. Spontaneous. Flirtacious. Romantic.
I hope people enjoy the very essence of this movie. Mom remains a
kind, caring, brilliant woman and inspirationally. She gave up her career
to raise his family. We love your face.
While you do not take the premise or the characters or the plot
too seriously, this is a pleasant movie with an interesting pairing
of Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn, besides an excellent supporting performance by Kay
Thompson and a good look and configuration of landscapes.
The musical numbers are welcome, if not to light. Stanley Donen
has the right to keep things together without making contact
the seams are all too often.
Hepburn is released in a somewhat unexpected role as an intellectual drab
store clerk who gets involved with Fred Astaire (more)
nature photographer. Audrey is so charming that
is very difficult to think of it as a wallflower, while Astaire
is as strong as ever, there are more than a couple of occasions when the relationship
not really see credible, despite the best efforts of
the two stars. The plot's not supposed to be nothing
weight anyway, so perhaps that is the price they have to pay for a
quite different pairing.
Kay Thompson provides many of the best moments. Sometimes the satire of
philosophy of fashion goes well, other times it gets a little boring.
not be forgotten are the colorful and interesting settings and
background, which set out the history and music quite well.
Is sometimes a strange combination, but as light entertainment that all
works well enough.
