Sexual jolts disrupt Manhattan physician Bill Harford's equilibrium. At an elegant Christmas party, two "models" hit on him, he watches a Lothario try to pick up his tipsy wife, he aids a woman sprawled naked in a bathroom after an overdose. The next night, his wife reveals sexual fantasies with a stranger; a dead patient's daughter throws herself at him; as he walks, brooding, six teen boys hurl homophobic insults at him; a streetwalker takes him to her flat; he interrupts men having a sex party with a girl barely in her teens. His odyssey, which next takes him into a world of wealthy sex play at a masked ball of hedonism, threatens his life, his self-respect, and his marriage.

I admit that I am part of worship Kubrick (people who follow their films
as a religion), and I was in the front line to see this film. Being a big movie fan
I've seen a wide variety of films and having walked away from them with
a wide variety of emotions. This was the first film that put me in a trance, or
dream, as a state. The way the film was shot, lit, and so on
gave the impression of a dream (for me at least). I feel that this is precisely what
is needed and what I wanted Kubrick. Everyone has to admit
think about the dark side of sex, and I think in this film we see that a person can explore the
buried their sexual desires id and still leave a good person
.
I guess it was a very personal film of Kubrick.
Cruise seemed to have the character to places that he personally wished that could
explore. Places, like a prostitute or an orgy, you'd like to visit, but
not want to stay in very long.
praise must go to Cruise and Kidman for their performances. Cruise
was able to strip away its veneer of movie star that appears to protect it at all
his other films, and offered through the clouded, tormented, insecure and
heart of a man jealous. Kidman should have known that part of his role was to be
eye candy, but she fought through and that the film gave the best performance
.
To someone out there thinking about seeing the film ..... I say this to be done. Some
hatred and love others, but half the fun of the film lies in the debates that
flower of this great film.
After three years of waiting, Eyes Wide Shut has finally come out. So now
after all this time, delays, rumors, tease, the sad death of
its director, Stanley Kubrick, finally get to answer the question, Can that be the
height of fashion? For the first time this year,
the answer to this question is a resounding yes. That is, until now, the best movie I've seen
this year, and it deserves its place among other masterpieces by Kubrick as the DR.

despite that he had been looking with interest this movie, I must admit that was
insecure about it at first. After all, from a clock, Kubrick's films (BARRY
Lyndon, Luminoso, and Full Metal Jacket), despite having some good pieces,
all have been somewhat flawed, particularly Luminoso. But my doubts
quickly came to rest in the opening scenes, where we have an idea
both what is right on the surface (nine years of happy marriage, wealth,
a healthy 7-year-old daughter, husband and wife with jobs) and
possibility of storms that lurk below (practiced how to get
prepared for the match , Barely looking at each other), and I was captivated
throughout.
Now I would like to take this forum to divert some of the criticisms I have read
of the film so far. One of them, of course, is that this is not really
New York City, but a Soundstage in England. He lived in New York City and
visited on several occasions, and details of the surface seems fine, but more importantly, it
defined in the "rich" area of Manhattan, which has always been
idealized in films (notably that Woody Allen), and therefore, is appropriate in
a dream-like the movie to play in the fantasy of the city, instead of
reality.
Secondly, it gives us no clue that this is a dream
Cruise's character may be walking, since it seems so real (yes, that's incompatible with the criticism
above, but to be fair, I saw only a couple of comments
what
make that mistake). First, dreams rarely see how they
designed by Salvador Dalí (at least my dreams). Secondly, if
entire sequence of the night seemed a dream and nothing else, we laugh when
Cruise goes back to the various places she visited at night, how does it know
to return them if they were not real? Finally, in the way the narrative unspools
, which plays like a dream, with the scene where
could wake up (the scene with Domino (Vinessa Shaw), the prostitute, where his cell phone
rings and Kidman is on the phone just before he could
fazer any damage).
Thirdly, it is only Kidman in the film 40 minutes of his 2 hours 40 minutes
running length. Now granted, that's all screen time, but
when Cruise enters his "dream state", she is always in the back of your mind,
not only in the scenes flashback (when he imagines her having sex with the sailor
had fantasies about), but in the fact that all other women who
comes through are designed to make he thought of Kidman. And their performance is
strong enough (especially in his monologues) remaining in the
mind.
Fourthly, that Cruise is completely flat. Once again, at least in the dreams
and I had read about, often in dreams that react to events
not provoke them, and that is what makes his character. Secondly, Kubrick and cruise
playing outside their image, to make him the object of desire of any person who collects, and
not only women (I like to think the scenes in which he is harassed by a group of
teenage thugs who think they are gay, and the hotel concierge where Alan Cumming
seems to be coming to him, Kubrick are the how to joke about rumors

plays exactly right.
Lastly, the film is flat and not very sexy. Once again, unless
is a nightmare, dreams are not played on MTV speed. Secondly, contrary to what
in the first we heard about the film is not about sex. On the contrary, this is
