Igby Slocumb, a rebellious and sarcastic seventeen year-old boy, is at war with the oppressive world of his East Coast "old money" family. With a schizophrenic father, a self-absorbed, distant mother, and a shark-like young Republican big brother, Igby figures there must be a better life out there, and he sets out to find it. After happily flunking out of several Prep Schools, Igby escapes into the bohemian underworld of Manhattan. His darkly comic trip—shared by a deviant cast of characters, including his terminally bored, part-time lover Sookie, his Godfather's trophy mistress Rachel, and smack-dealing performance artists Russel—veers from bizarre to tragic in Igby's ultimately noble attempt to keep himself from "going down."

Due to the poor review I read I think I should introduce another
giving a better image of the film then the other reviewer. All
things he said were not clear that it seemed very clear to me. Yes, Susan Sarandon
made the character of giving birth to two boys, except that one was illegitimate
Jeff Goldblums character, and the other was his true son of her husband who
was driven insane by his meddling. Whereas the other
Igby reviewer felt that it was a mess of a film and compared it to The Royal Tennenbaums
(which I agree is a total mess and completely unenjoyable), Igby
I felt that was a Refreshing black humor. What exactly do you get when you cross the
comedy and drama. It has a lot of heart, and excellent leadership
insightful, real wit and acuity in their approach to
material ... I thoroughly enjoyed. He came across a brain
experience for me. Highly recommended.
There is no question of aspects of this are pretty brutal. But the issue of
history dictates that be the case.
Igby Goes Down is about a child anywhere on earth. He did not know where is
happens in life and responds to this being a rebel in
everything.
Add to this the instability of their parents with a schizophrenic father and a mother and tyrannical
can understand why they had somewhat mixed
.
In many ways this is a coming of age story, but in others it is too dark to be
that. Indeed, there is an ambivalence of the subjects in the hope and despair
presented in equal measure.
As Igby, Kieran Culkin Excel. He is excellent, the best thing about the movie
- As the quality of his companions, as a sinister agenda and riddled with
Jeff Goldblum, a monstrous hierarchical and Susan Sarandon, a confusing and
