The nauseating praise this monstrous film
has received only prove that Hollywood does its job very well. Throw in some brilliant
actors, film intelligent, a melodramatic score and an icon
director, and voilà - suspension of disbelief - common sense -
morality. Perhaps it is the result of playing in too many Westerns
in which there is no rule of law. Mr Eastwood, whom I had the greatest respect
, until I saw this movie, seems to advocate a return to those days when
settled our differences with guns and
with impunity.
I sat across the bleak, depressing story, realizing that there was
will be no "Hollywood Happy Ending." But I was totally unprepared for
completely exonerated the most foul of the facts even more unhealthy
characters. And that speech at the end of Laura Linney
only served to sink the depths of the female characters in underground
levels. Marcia Gay Harden's character, however, did much before the wreck when
literally put a contract out on her husband's life by telling
totally unfounded suspicions to murdering bandit played
by Sean Penn.

except for Tim Robbins - how can a film that validates
violence, murder, selfishness The lack of accountability and consequences,
be given a prize of any kind? What kind of society we, if we
can become so dazzled by Clint Eastwood and his chosen actors
miss the huge hole where the film's moral center should be? Or instead
absent, the film's moral center is one that is so amoral
that should be equally impossible to miss. However,
lose so many of us have done.
If the intention of the film was in shock for us outrage at the
serious miscarriage of justice perpetrated by the end of the film, in the absolute insensitivity
showing the
characters toward the victims, let me praise as one of the best movies of all time.
But the message I received was not an enlightened manner. And the absolute horror

time ago. Penn, in a realistic manner and surprisingly, grieves for the loss of her daughter
. Laurence Fishburne (Whitey playing police) is so smart
speaking as always, while Kevin Bacon gives a solid performance as the
homicide police investigating the case.
Although the film becomes a little erratic towards the end, this tough, uncompromising and brutal
, but still, a masterpiece, and the best work
Eastwood as it has done in years.
