Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen) is a young, naive American who gives up college and volunteers for combat in Vietnam. Upon arrival, he quickly discovers that his presence is quite nonessential, and is considered insignificant to the other soldiers, as he has not fought for as long as the rest of them and felt the effects of combat. Chris has two commanding officers, the ill-tempered and indestructible Staff Sergeant Robert Barnes (Tom Berenger) and the more pleasant and cooperative Sergeant Elias Grodin (Willem Dafoe). A line is drawn between the two officers and a number of men in the platoon when an illegal killing occurs during a village raid. As the war continues, Chris himself draws towards psychological meltdown. And as he struggles for survival, he soon realizes he is fighting two battles, the conflict with the enemy and the conflict between the men within his platoon.

"Platoon" was my first introduction to wartime reality.I was only a child
the first time you see the film and left a powerful impression on
me.Before that, where only had seen a couple of Rambo movies and that is what I
hopes to reach, turned out to be quite much.It
something very different from that, even though I take a few years to realize < br> what is different.
"Platoon" Oliver Stone is the image of progress and a milestone in the history of Hollywood
of 80 years. It has almost all well-known actor
at that time, most notable are the
Forest Whitaker, Johnny Depp, Willem Dafoe, Charlie Sheen and Francesco Quinn.
Why is a landmark film? It has helped to bring greater understanding in
the hot issue of the Vietnam War, despite "Apocalypse Now!"
Had already developed this theme in the most impressive way.Yet still remains
something left to say Stone.It was almost the same as
Coppola said, but in another, more harrowing and less complex way.We got closer
a glimpse of how it is to die for one. Dafoe 's heroic final
is one of the most dramatic scenes in the history of war films.
a strong point here is the abuse of military codes and discipline.Tom
Berenger of sadistic, concerned sgt. Barnes is the perfect example of a warrior god
game, or angel of death, and fighting a war for their own
rules.Berenger Barnes played so well that really gives you the chills watching
him and you want him dead.Sgt. Elijah is his counterpart in
each way, as he really cares about his men and is in contact with humans
there forever.
he is not popular among lowlifes as the psychopath redneck
Bunny (large role in early Kevin Dillon) and bones racist O'Neill
John McGinley incarnation.
Espinas Another character is a young lieutenant, on the one hand, is a greater sinner who
Barnes.He has no control over the men under his command
absolute and refuses to take responsibility or even feel the
guilt for doing nothing to prevent the massacre in the village
committed by Barnes and his butchers.Here see that the

gets what it deserves and Junior, which is the most despicable of
black characters here, dies.This also can be seen as director of
own judgment.The only other sympathetic character is still alive in this
time, Mr Rah meter, left here
alive.Francesco Quinn shows he is capable taking over his father's inheritance.
After all, this movie is not perfect, but it's a perfect document
madness that happened in Vietnam 1964-73.And its consequent to his
end, certainly it is very touching and almost made me mourn
the second time that I saw it.It is funny how one can feel both happy and sad to leave a
place.Such war-torn feelings are that a war
evokes a man.It is almost like Chris was sad leaving, or perhaps
emotions that were bubbling under surface only
left for real.

Any way, this film will always be remembered as the
which gave a real and unpolished image of humanity to war at a time
Hollywood producers made an attempt to glorify the U.S. Army and a cast
eclipse at its shameful stain, the transformation of the massacre in
culture.Ironically that succeeded.8/10
In the 1980's, and generally in the mid-1980, in particular, are not very
believes that pop culture is concerned, this is especially true in more
cinema where films seems to be written around his banda sonora
in the same way as today's Hollywood films seem to be written
around their special effects. Platoon is one of the few films
that period which has an emotional impact, an impact that still maintains
while watching it in 2003.
All other seems to have mentioned what makes a classic peloton
anti-war (Note that the fight against war, not against americas or soldier) along with film
be a classic movie, so I will not go over old ground
except to say that the death scene is comparable with all other tear
masturbating scenes film 20 century, not ashamed to say you
exclaimed
Platoon If you have a defect that is in its duality, Sarge is good / bad
Sarge, good officer / bad officer, good white man / white guy bad, good
Black guy / bad guy's black, so it is perhaps a little cliches and possibly
leads me to believe Stone is making an excuse or reason that the Americans
lost in Vietnam because they spent much fighting each other and not
that the VC (Although I agree that misinterpreting possibly
as an excuse or a reason yet because nobody is going to confuse policy with Stone
policy John Wayne), while the character of Taylor
comes across as more of a literary device rather than a real human being
, but these are minor defects is a
shame to see war movies of recent years lacked
scathing anti-war sentiments such as those seen here. Platoon
screams to you "War is hell and what the rights and wrongs of the conflicts that
need a bloody good reason to make war. Vietnam was not a good enough reason
to sacrifice human lives "
