Sylvia and Jennie Fae Likens, the two daughters of traveling carnival workers are left for an extended stay at the Indianapolis (3850 E. Not many films make me feel sick to my stomach and did not make me feel so many
deep sadness that I am helpless to do anything but mourn . A Crime
chronicles the astonishing and horrific events that led to the death
sixteen years old, Sylvia assimilated. History tells us
comes directly from transcripts of the court in the case of Baniszewski
vs. The State of Indiana. As the story develops slowly in a spiral
normal small town populated world with the innocence of youth to an absolute
and inexplicable horror.

The story of the events leading up to assimilates "death is short and tragic
, with many people to blame, including his parents and sister
. His parents negligently entrusted her and her younger sister
attention of a woman who had only met once. This woman, Gertrude Baniszewski
, was a mother rearing of children and accepted and Sylvia
his sister in his home by the mere fact that she needed the money supply
is assimilated. But Baniszewski wan't fit to care for the
It treats daughters and a few months, Sylvia had become the victim of Gertrude
the escalation of abuses. Sylvia eventually became a prisoner
Baniszewski in the basement of a terrible 27 days, where he was
abused and tortured by Baniszewski, her children and also a series of
other neighborhood children. How can this have happened? How could
many people involved in this horrible crime? How could her own sister
no han ido to the police before it is too late?

After Sylvia died from their beatings, Baniszewski's
was found guilty of his crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment. His sons and
other participants were also convicted and sentenced, each
time two years' imprisonment. While crimes Baniszewski
are unforgivable, the thing I personally find most disturbing is the way to his
example led to their children and other children acts of cold,
cruel, brutality.

The world in which they were entered in the AAC is not sensational, in
contrast, is simple, ordinary, common and comfortable. The
production design and cinematography work in harmony, Lulling
viewer into believing they are witnessing a more innocent time and place and as
history basa plate Norman Rockwell begins slowly
Undermining until it is replaced by a suffocating world of perdition.
The resultant effect is that the CAA gets under our skin and bothers us in a profound way
as these crimes could have been committed in
our neighborhood, our neighbors and possibly people
we knew and trusted. Most disturbing of all is the realization of these crimes could
have participated with us. It would be easy to demonize

Baniszewski and all others involved in
assimilation death, but the writer / director Tommy O'Haver elects
humanize them instead. In so doing their horrible acts of abuse and torture persist
and beg the recurring question: how could they have done this?
When we see the faces of children in the courts, we do not see the faces of
psychopaths, we see innocent children without any explanation for his actions
. Only Baniszewski comes across itself as separate,
delusional and remorseless criminal and Catherine Keener has to be applauded
managing somehow to add to the complexity and vision
someone guilty of these crimes . They prefer the subtle performance aside, the standout in this film
Ellen Page is that our hearts were broken when his clock
robbed of their innocence.

Before AAC, Page drew raves for their performances in Hard Candy and
Juno. In both films she played a precocious, smart assed
hipster who had the world at the tip of your little finger. The subsequent
reaction that came from the most ridiculously hyped phenomena of Juno
questioned Page's ability to play something other than what
itself seems to be: a precocious, smart assed with hipster
the world at your fingertip. I also doubted his ability to do much
otherwise, but after seeing the ACC, now I am eating my doubt for lunch. Page plays
assimilates as a sensitive, kind and considerate sixteen years of age and
when the world comes crashing in it, the suffering that endures
is heartbreaking and convincing provided by Page. I am sure that few
agree with me, but the progress of implementation was not in Juno,
One was in americas Crime. Sylvia assimilates
