Charley is a hustler. He's been on his own long enough to know how to work people and situations. He finds that the father who threw him out as a teen ager has died. He's left him a now antique convertible and something more important, a previously unknown brother, Raymond. Raymond is Autistic, but is able to calculate complicated mathematical problems in his head with great speed and accuracy. Their father has left his fortune to Raymond who doesn't even understand what money is for. Charley is enraged by what has happened and by his father keeping Raymond's existence from him for his entire life. He kidnaps Raymond from his residential home but then finds that Raymond will only fly Qantas. The two begin a long road trip that will lead them to an understanding of each other.

I've seen this movie probably 7 or 8 times in the past three years,
wrote a paper on it for my college film class last semester, and basically
consider it my favorite movie of all time. Where to begin with the praise
for this movie? Let's start with the acting. Dustin Hoffman is my favorite actor
, and has been for a while. I would love to see him in any role. I was surprised
in the way they were able to take this role. I've never seen a more
deserved Oscar win. The vacant gaze, monotonous voice, shouting,
was incredible. Every time I see that I floors of his talent.
Tom Cruise is also good, the bad of history who undergo such
subtle change that is almost not visible until almost the end. He is, however,
perfectly suited for the flashy, selfish character of Charlie, and I think that
did a great job. The address was quiet and beautiful, for
mostly just let the action take place, which is exactly how they
should have been done. It's a good idea film-making that and more, and
I think I have seen nothing in the film is so poignant as the scene in the motel
when Charlie discovers that "Rain Man" really is. Have a
this movie 9.5 out of 10. Absolutely wonderful.
Tom Cruise stars as a used car salesman, who is angry when his father
inheritance is left to his autistic older brother (Dustin Hoffman),
whose existence was not revealed to him.
The film revolves around its two central performances assured.
Hoffman gives an excellent image of a man with autism,
totally unable to understand the real world around them. Cruise is no less impressive.
While it is essentially with the kind of game, your character's attitude
changes gradually over the movie you barely notice, and without
Cruise yield subtle transformation of this kind would be
much less credible.
This is a very commendable film, which, despite coping with a difficult subject
, refuses to succumb to sentimentality. In giving this kind autism
publicity, the film has to be hoped that helped reduce the stigma
by ignorance of this condition.
Rain Man of great success is that it shows the way forward for the issue
driven Hollywood films. His success at the box office
demonstrates that the adoption of a risk can pay in spades, whenever the film is
good enough.
