A partially handicapped man named Karl is released from a mental hospital, several years after murdering his mother and another person. Karl is often questioned if he will ever kill again, and he shrugs in response saying there is no reason to. Now out of the mental institution, Karl settles in his old, small hometown, occupying himself by fixing motors. After meeting a young boy named Frank who befriends him, Karl is invited to stay at Frank's house with his mother Linda- who views Karl as a strange but kind and generous man. However, Linda's abusive boyfriend Doyle, sees things differently in the way rules ought to be run- normally insulting Linda's homosexual friend Vaughan as well as Karl's disabilities, and having wild parties with his friends. As Karl's relation with Frank grows, he is ever so watchful of Doyle's cruel actions.

It is a pleasure in its own way of seeing a hyped-up
modern classic that is as good as they say - and in a quiet, reflective. Surprisingly
the public latched onto the film because it is not easy, filled with remarkable style
nor is painted with feeling good stroke - although
vigilantism of which makes it difficult hobby: I can think of
as for the film itself, the soothing, forgiving tone, as when Thornton
finally tells why the mother was in the hospital
state and how she reacts. The act of violence exists only the greatness of the film is
in the rest of it, how it respects the audience: there are horrible
descriptions - the dead baby - who are sad poetry, but never so
Relentlessly bleak as to see the film punish.
There are moments that are so incredibly sad, especially because of Thornton's
effective use of echoey, espaà music. The seriousness of the film
honesty is something that I find it very rewarding, and the film The beautiful structure,
those long scenes from afar, is a pleasant change of pace.
The script goes against the conventions, is dropped in lines unexpected
without advertising that fact. Some of the lines should be fun -
the Bible was not the way Thornton hopes that in some places - but the intention is not
, and is not "know." It's one of those films tremendous indie
that really has to make a statement, but at the same time there is no
feeling, not terrible feeling of fear, either, just straight ahead -
Gothic Tales.
There are some problems if you look at it quite difficult, besides the
vigilantism, on paper the film is full of stereotypes: the delicate
gay, visceral and the passage of dad The delay Southern simpleton. But in the
playing the same feel anything stereotypical. The characters are certainly
labels and afflictions on paper, but in the film as a whole are
beings. The "Forrest Gump" comparisons are obvious - the simpleton
Befriends where a young boy looking dirty and the two best friends are
(who still plays football at one point), but this film, even
Although screwy politics is like the movie, is so deeply human.
All lines are the key actions in law. They are full
characters, but each has a voice all his own, an idiosyncrasy:
JT Creepiness Walsh, John Ritter is gentle murmur that
adds a touch of humor to the film, Robert Duvall's brief appearance as
Thornton's pathetic father; Yoakam, who is a charming SOB; Lucas Black,
the least annoying of child actors - a rapscallion. Even the side
characters, like the hospital director embarrassed with the system,
is great. And Jim Jarmusch proves itself a clever, interesting actor.

This film is a perfect example of how a film should be done. It
everything, good cast, good script, good results everything is perfect.
This must be one of my favorites of all time and movies
Billy Bob Thornton is a good writer and director as he is an actor. The Oscar for best adapted screenplay
was well deserved and it shocks me that Billy Bob did not
Oscar for best actor. I bought this movie on DVD and is a pity that you do not
some sort of features, but I hope it will release a special edition with
contribution of the writer, actor and director himself. I urge everyone to
see this film because it's fun, emotional, funny and
simply brilliant. 10/10
