Hunters and their prey—Neil and his professional criminal crew hunt to score big money targets (banks, vaults, armored cars) and are, in turn, hunted by Lt. Vincent Hanna and his team of cops in the Robbery/Homicide police division. A botched job puts Hanna onto their trail while they regroup and try to put together one last big 'retirement' score. Neil and Vincent are similar in many ways, including their troubled personal lives. At a crucial moment in his life, Neil disobeys the dictum taught to him long ago by his criminal mentor—'Never have anything in your life that you can't walk out on in thirty seconds flat, if you spot the heat coming around the corner'—as he falls in love. Thus the stage is set for the suspenseful ending....

The Heat is an artist cops and robbers story shows that both sides of the law
in exquisite detail. Strong performances by Pacino and DeNiro (the scene of
them sitting around a table from one another is possibly 5 of the most memorable
minutes in movie history). Excellent cinematography and perhaps the shooting
best (if not, one of the most intense) from Hard Boiled. More
that the value of 3 or more hours.
Sonar as a bold statement? Devotees of classic cops and robbers flicks
age certainly take exception, but I think Michael Mann
achieved a degree of perfection with the Heat. To break this three-hour gem of a film
to its essence, this is a film about the man - the strong man - and
support
role of women film have them for better or worse. Take
Pacino as good cop Vincent Hanna: one of the most intense characterizations
the tragic hero that I have attended, as he laments the death of her third marriage to
Junkie wife of a pill. A fact that he discussed with his archnemesis
(De Niro) so the story is counted as one of the most
frantic scenes in the history of cinema. The dialogue in this scene (in
end of the first tape, if you own the VHS version) provides the latest
half of the film perfectly, as our two rivals come together to
conscience that have no part in the choice of paths that lead them
to his latest confrontation: their very nature in order to define their respective shares
that any attempt to do otherwise would be merely a
waste of time. Although I have heard others (which I sometimes ashamed to call
close friends) say that Heat drags in places, I will
admit that there are moments in the film that require more than superficial attention to
give the film they happen to be watching at any given time (Sorry
each director is not Jerry Bruckheimer), there are events moving
character in Heat that many contempt Casual. I refer to the
interaction between ex-con who is conditioned employment in a dining room with a
opportunistic dregs of a head, and whose girlfriend is so proud of
him to swallow his pride and not simply giving the sonofabitch
a good pummeling. But there is a catharsis that I felt the same with ex-
when De Niro
The character presents an opportunity to have just one more
Result, for old time itself. That does not feel for this guy - this minor
character in a movie with great heavyweights of time it reaches
shine for a few brief moments. That's what Heat is actually a series of brief moments, some touching
, other traumatic, and other incredibly horrible in the
feelings that are a source of romantic inspiration in that, like I do not see
black or white portraits of protagonist and villain, but a montage of grey
that combine to create a spectrum of vivid characterization
film that could not be found in hundreds of movies together. One of my five favorite movies of all
time, the Heat is a feast of cinematic images and intense pulse-pounding action
. Come hungry.
