Three very different cops are all after the truth, each in their own style: Ed Exley, the golden boy of the police force, willing to do almost anything to get ahead, except sell out; Bud White, ready to break the rules to seek justice, but barely able to keep his raging violence under control; and Jack Vincennes, always looking for celebrity and a quick buck until his conscience drives him to join Exley and White down the one-way path to find the truth behind the dark world of L.A. crime.

Six years ago, a director with the name of Curtis Hansen emerged with a small tiempo
film called L. A. Confidential. Although the film won several large
nominations to the Academy Awards 1997, the nation has been swept by the giant
overproduction and romantic, Titanic, hence, reducing the chances of this brilliant
to achieve a real movie awards. 1997
completely screwed this phenomenal film, in which three players gave brilliant performances
of his career.
Russell Crowe plays detective Bud White, a tough LA police
that bends the rules in order to do justice to the city. It is ruthless, relentless and
no man who leads him in direct conflict with the lieutenant detective
Ed Exley, played by Guy Pearce. Russell Crowe became a full role with this character
committed actor, the COP with a physicist and a steel
vulnerable heart. He makes it so real and credible to the audience, you can not help but sympathize
by its nature of the circumstances. From this role,
Crowe was going to take stock of best actor three nominations, winning for his role in Gladiator
.
Guy Pearce, the little-known body builder of Australia, became the character
known as Ed Exley, a straight, uptight detective trying to live up to the legend of
his father before him created. Exley has a lot to prove to the
LAPD, trying to prove that he is so good, perhaps even better, more
his father. The game politics in a corrupt police department
very well and is able to use these skills in solving the mysterious and corrupt
case of the murders Night Owl. This film officially Guy Pearce in the big leagues
cinema, making their appearances together to Memento and The Count of Monte Cristo
. He is a very underrated player that deserves better than
what has been achieved.
Finally, the always wonderful Kevin Spacey. Spacey plays Lieutenant Jack
Vincenes, a policeman who gives a popular show LA police, badge of honor, real
resolve cases in exchange for money. Jack sees his life as a soap opera ever going
, until he comes across a case that somehow has a connection to the Night Owl
murders. Kevin Spacey has shown time and again
his skills as an actor, and he continues with this action.
Curtis Hansen does a wonderful job with what this story to the big screen.
His talent, but acknowledged, have not been given so far.
I can only hope that someday, someone will give this director somewhat surprising
worthy of his talent.

LA Confidential most likely falls into the category of
one of the best films of the past twenty years. The complex history
seemed to burst the seams with intelligence. I found the complexity of various sub-plots
working together into question the intellectual part of my brain
while the intense action along the entire film
satisfied the longings of
not so intellectual part of my brain that enjoys watching a good brawl
followed by a good shooting. Brian Helgeland and Curtis Hanson did and
excellent job of combining elements of many different types of films
into one. It seems they have done this movie
with different audiences in mind. What I am concerned, as I mentioned, enjoy the intellectual
aspect, as well as action, while my wife enjoyed the combination of a
love story with drama. It really has something for everyone.
Bringing together all these elements on film sets it apart from many other
.
of course, the best aspect of LA Confidential is the way that
not everything is as it seems, and then in an instant, all plots are
emerged as a trap and bind to a grand finale. In general L.A.
Confidential is an excellent film that contains something for everyone.
