In solving his insomnia by driving a yellow cab on the night shift, he grows increasingly disgusted by the low-lifes that hang out at night: "Someday a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets." His touching attempts to woo Betsy, a Senator's campaign worker, turn sour when he takes her to a porn movie on their first date. He even fails in his attempt to persuade child prostitute Iris to desert her pimp and return to her parents and school. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this movie (movie clip)
is worth a million words, which is why it probably has generated at least one
million words.

What can we say. The obvious: "Taxi Driver" is large, is. That
is a masterpiece, it is. What sets this movie apart from many other
films, including
great films, it is an enigma. Every time I watch this movie

I see something else, I see something else, I feel otherwise, I wonder
otherwise. And I'm clearly not the only one who reacts to the

film in this way which is why it lends itself to endless speculation and debate
.

Since so many positive comments have been made, instead of adding my own bright red hot
review I thought I appeal to those who have written
who do not like "Taxi Driver" Because, they say, find it boring and

boring, difficult to follow, etc. These people miss some important points about the film
.

ONE, "Taxi Driver" is not an action film. If you want an action film monitoring
"Die Hard" and its many sequels, or "Lethal Weapon" and its sequels,

not talk about "Rambo" and thousands of other " ; action flicks. "
There is nothing wrong with them, per se. There is nothing wrong with liking either of them. But it is wrong
put in "Taxi Driver" because of what is not.

DOS, "Taxi Driver" is about loneliness and solitude is characterized by a

almost overwhelming boredom and emptiness and Travis Bickle's character reflects

That. His life is monotonous and boring, almost nothing happens to him and that is what
"Taxi Driver" shows - Bickle the pathetic life. THREE

, some people say they do not understand the plot, Bickle's
attitudes and behaviors, etc. But that is because "Taxi Driver" is a
man who is deeply disturbed emotionally even though he (and his friends)
not seem to know. Their actions are not rational because he is not rational
. Their actions make no sense because it makes no sense. Offhand,
can not think of any other film that has represented mental illness, as well as
"Taxi Driver" and not film that tries to show the world as we see someone
as
Travis Bickle.

There are three reasons for addressing the most common criticisms of the
film with a notable exception, which ended its controversial, but that is a
whole issue in itself it is only further evidence of why "Taxi Driver" is so
worth - when viewers are not sure what really happens in the end (Can
Travis hallucinating as he is dying? Is that what the slow movement
general tracking shot suggests? Or do they actually become a hero in the media and

realeased get back into the world with your friends? Etc., etc.) The questions and

issues raised by "Taxi Driver" and only one go.

However, if after reading this that still do not think "Taxi Driver"
is a great movie, I can not help you. I'm not saying you have to just like (or love)
"Taxi Driver" only appreciate or at least acknowledge his greatness

even if it is not your cup of tea. Actually, I do not like "Taxi Driver" because

it does not lend itself to love. It is too disturbing precisely because it is an image
too close to reality, is cut too close to the bone for my

comfort (or rather, discomfort). It is not easy to watch because
not supposed to be. Therefore, if "Taxi Driver" makes you feel uncomfortable and
uncomfortable, because it must real life is uncomfortable and difficult (unless you are born rich or something
).

Lastly, after seeing again for the umpteenth time they have begun to notice
(and feel) the gentle "Taxi Driver". The general feeling and the flow of
the film is incredibly smooth in which not only each scene, but
each and every movement and gesture flows into the other imperceptibly. Sometimes I play
scences and sequences again and again to capture the way it happens.
In fact, I see it happening and still can not quite figure out how to make

but I have a hunch - DeNiro. DeNiro is simply incredible in this film. If

have not already done so, do with the remote control in hand and play some of the

scenes in slow motion and see what I am talking about. Only
DeNiro
can do what he does. The vast minimalism of his performance is just stunning
. How do we get so little of both never ceases to amaze me.
The performance of DeNiro in "Taxi Driver" only reminds me of what sports announcer Curt Gowdy
exclaimed after a third
basis
Baltimore Orioles Brooks Robinson played unbelievable in the 1970 World Series, "This guy is
another world! "
The strength of Taxi Driver is showing the film is a collaborative art. Undoubtedly
films power lies in its unflinching first person narrative;
De Niro appears in nearly every scene as God's lonely man of Travis Bickle, a character
craving human contact yet so crippled by paranoia
and mental illness that this modest goal is apparently unattainable. New York
Scorsese films as his hell on earth - and came to realize that it is Travis'
twisted world view that we are part. Paul Schrader script maintains tension in
almost unbearable heat, violence threatens to erupt at any moment
by the experience profoundly disturbing to the casual viewer.

however, this film would be unimaginable without Bernard Hermann's disturbing fact
Result doubly painful because it was his last. And I could go on
contributions made by other team members Taxi Driver .....
but I hope my point has been taken is that the synergy of profoundly creative people
the height of his powers that makes Taxi Driver
such a unique and rewarding experience. They have done an excellent job for this production
but never better present its best moments.
