Donnie Darko gets along badly with his family, with his teachers and with his classmates; but he does manage to find a sympathetic friend in Gretchen, who agrees to date him; and he has a compassionate psychiatrist, who discovers hypnosis is the means to unlock hidden secrets. His other companion may not be a true ally. Donnie has a friend named Frank, who is either a large purple bunny, or man in a large purple bunny costume. Either way, Donnie is the only one who can see him. When an engine falls off a plane and destroys his room, Donnie is not there. Both the event, and Donnie's escape, seem to have been caused by supernatural events. Donnie's mental illness, if such it is, may never allow him to find out for sure.

The fact that this is the first film directors is unbelievable to me. The
goteó scenes with style, style that does not seem distracting. None of
is free greeting or wolverines. The visuals were supported by an
Result really emotional and difficult to find faults in the 80's pop melodies
that found their way into some of the most impressive scenes.
The story is very suggestive. His kind that leaves you pondering the possibilities
expressed by the characters.
There is nothing condescending about this movie. Answers Arent simply surrender, rather
the viewer is left to draw many conclusions. The

Patrick Swayze was in this movie, I would have been surprised. His character is
fun and interesting all at once. A great cameo for him. Drew Barrymore
forget is, however, that in no way detracts from the film. Of course, is
star Jake Gyllenhaal. There is nothing that can be said correctly
praise for their performance. The rest of the cast chosen fits perfectly
their duties. All these things combine to create an impressive film. One can only hope that cinemagoers
give this little jewel shot and support

IMDB.
Being an angst-ridden teenager has never been easy, especially when
can see what is on the road, and seems much like the end of his
world.
writer and director Richard Kelly is an artist whose films I
anticipate and Jake Gyllenhaal is truly remarkable among a very rich
cast. It plays a troubled young man with a brilliant intelligence and a
great imagination, struggling with boredom of the standard of education,
and a society of fear its own shadow (eg contemporary americas). A
imaginary friend, Frank - a seven-foot tall metal-headed skull-faced demon-rabbit
saves his life by removing him from the scene of a disaster just before
it occurs only lead to him by an alternative path to a
even more terrible oblivion complete with predictions of doom,
psychiatrists, and self-help charlatans.
This film feels creepy as well done as any ghost story I have ever seen and
, however, is redefining the genre in the supernatural storytelling very unique and
original.
Donnie Darko is a film about heroism and sacrifice, decorated with
disturbing images, the horror of everyday life, and a banda sonora
Lynch recalls the best. It is also a film worthy of multiple viewings
, and at least as many varied interpretations.
I can not honestly recommend this to anyone attending the movies
for the sake of pure entertainment. Nor can I recommend to people who need
straight answers or have limited attention. It is art, not
not need to provide pat explanations for itself. As entertaining as
this film may be, has a relentless and ruthless dark side, and
could further disrupt the veteran Indy film carmudgeon.
This is a great movie. See it.
