In the year 2054 A.D. crime is virtually eliminated from Washington D.C. thanks to an elite law enforcing squad "Precrime". They use three genetically altered humans (called "Pre-Cogs") with special powers to see into the future and predict crimes beforehand. John Anderton (Tom Cruise) heads Precrime and believes the system's flawlessness steadfastly. However one day the Pre-Cogs predict that Anderton will commit a murder himself in the next 36 hours. Worse, Anderton doesn't even know the victim. He decides to get to the mystery's core by finding out the 'minority report' which means the prediction of the female Pre-Cog Agatha (Samantha Morton) that "might" tell a different story and prove Anderton innocent.

It is an open secret: the Oscar is Jinx.
Triumph with Spielberg's "Schindler's List" was followed by the longest break of his career, which broke with
... "Jurassic Park II," a sequel without any kind of life you
once they have vowed never to do - the worst and most anonymous movie ever
is directed ( "Hook" had its moments). His next two films were
improvements (there was nowhere to go but up): the first anonymous, but not bad
( "Friendship"), the second bad, but not anonymous ( "Save the Private Ryan "),
but they are both pompous gestures that appear to have been designed to further
win prizes, and it was not until eight years after" Schindler's List
" ; expert director of the old days re-appeared ( "AI" in
2,001).
But he is well and truly back now, and I'm happy. I even learned to
welcome when making decisions that infuriate me, as long as it is
with the right kind of self-assured arrogance. I did not like the
voice-over at the end (that there was no need to be told that, we could have worked out
), or how they ceded to the modern tendency to be unnecessarily disgusting
( at least he does not play its gross-out moments
for cheap laughs), or even style of photography (it's easy to manipulate us
think the future is a bleak place, if the process of push - even
film images that in the normal course of events would be luscious and rich,
are grimy and Desaturate - there are other ways to get colourless
images, as you well know Spielberg, and many of them are best). However, in order
, big deal. The story is a knockout, the action is tense, the future
rich, colorful and credible. Spielberg is
be especially commended for the way he has completely avoided the dystopia of imaginative
"Blade Runner." The future we see here is a mix of dream and nightmare, so
convince a mixture that we can not always tell them apart.
Here is a measure of how well the film is as follows: in an interview, Spielberg
revealed that he completely misunderstood the issues that drive the stories
- And not just how to tell this from the finished product.
unless Spielberg is only opportunistic locking on the hook for
forced him into a dim-resourceful journalist, he thought the film is about how much
freedom we are willing to forgo in exchange for security (
in order to prevent terrorist attacks, for example). This is the interpretation is
strained. Three people (the precogs) actually relinquish their freedom in
For millions of others can be safer, and yes, there is a question
here. When one of the Crime Prevention officer said, "It's better not
think of them as human," I was surprised to find myself nodding in agreement
. The advantages of the system are so great that of course I
rather not see too closely on the burden to be borne by three -
only three - individuals. Apart from the three precogs regrettable, nobody
are invited to renounce any freedom at all. (Except, of course, freedom of
commit murder. However, according to the law and we are free to commit murder, and
a good thing too.)
Interesting issues that are falling out of naturally concerns the history
futility of vengeance. After people who otherwise would have committed the murder
they do not, are sent to prison in any event, presumably in
the argument that this is what they deserve - and there is no doubt that is what they deserve
. But it is abundantly clear that blocking these people, even though
may be in the interests of justice, serves no purpose. It is demanding
revenge by criminals for the sake of revenge - which is exactly what the U.S.
justice system has pledged to do at the moment, which is
why the future is unrealistic. (Apart from precognition, that is.)
Anderton is the mistake of believing in the value of vengeance, and he never
more impressive than when he realizes his mistake. (That was a great scene;
It's a pity I can not say exactly why. Suffice it to say that when we think
who know where the story happens, in fact, you may know where the history of
goes - but Spielberg is only allowing us to see so much of what goes up
in order to hide the rest of it.)
The latest sign that Spielberg returns to its peak is found in the proceedings.
They are all good. Tom Cruise weakness as an actor is that he is only
never as good as its director, and the fact that he is so good here means that
"Minority Report" was directed by Spielberg true, the old Spielberg,
Spielberg with the same capacity of Charles Dickens had to do more
his grotesque creations, let alone his grotesque,
come to life.
It may be this movie has some flaws, but while watching it I was not too distracted
that. Here is one of the greatest living directors (Steven Spielberg
), a big star (Tom Cruise) with a large package (
Max von Sydow, Colin Farrell, Peter Stormare, Samantha Morton, Tim Blake Nelson) < br> around him, a good photograph (Janusz Kaminski) and a good score by John Williams
all packed in a great story (based on the novel by Philip K. Dick)
perfect with visual effects.
In the year 2054 murders can be predicted and stopped before they occur.
When you were about to kill him but stopped are locked. Is Tom Cruise
one of the agents who stopped the killings. Then he discovers the next murder which have
going to stop being committed by himself.
not I will reveal more of the plot. The story itself is great. It
smart, exciting, but also with great action scenes. The visuals are truly beautiful and perfectly
support the sci-fi story. If you like action thrillers
and you do not mind being established in the future (with some futuristic gadgets
) this is your movie. 9 / 10.
