Action/war drama based on the best-selling book detailing a near-disastrous mission in Somalia on October 3, 1993 where nearly 100 U.S. Army Rangers, commanded by Capt. Mike Steele, were dropped by helicopter deep into the capital city of Mogadishu to capture two top lieutenants of a Somali warlord which lead to a large and drawn-out firefight between the Rangers and hundreds of Somali gunmen which led to the destruction of two U.S. Black Hawk helicopters in Mogadishu, and the heroic efforts by various Rangers to get to them, centering on Sgt. Eversmann, commanding one Ranger unit named Chalk Four, leading Rangers to the first black hawk crash site, to Warrant Officer Durant who was only survivor of the second black hawk crash site and whom was captured, to Col. McKnight who leads a rescue convoy for the Rangers only to get lost within the hostile city, to Sgt. Sanderson desperately trying to get to the first crash site, to Staff Sgt. Yurek who leads two fellow Rangers, Nelson and Twombly to meet with up their squad, Chalk Four, at the first crash site, to many others involved who where either killed or survived.

Black Hawk Down is primarily a war film enormously effective, but
beyond that, its one of the most subtly different war movies ever made.
Most war movies usually do not have a single hero through which we can see everything
(ie Platoon), or present us with a squad of soldiers, all of
which are identifiable "types" (ie, Saving Private Ryan). Black Hawk Down
takes a different approach, instead giving us a very broad range of
characters, none clearly defined as a hero or a type of command to
public attention. The overall effect is to create this feeling of a team
Army George C. Scott so ardently that we outlined at the beginning of
Patton. Fostering this sense of military professionalism, the film never
cheapens itself by putting too much weight in an emotional moment. The
plot moves at a steady pace, cutting from one place to another, without
slow to focus too much on individual soldiers. The effect is
see documentary footage of a real military operation ido wrong.
While the effect of this approach script can produce some detachment
among spectators at the first viewing, the film does everything in the best
subsequent viewings.
And you'd better believe that there will be subsequent viewings because
Ridley Scott has created one of cinema of all time great pieces of eye candy.
editing, cinematography, classification, skill and all visual effects combine
leave a viewer like drainage at the exit of the theater as these
soldiers were leaving Mogadishu. The intensity of this movie is the fight easily
equal to Saving Private Ryan, and leaves pretenders such as Soldiers were
behind in the dust. Black Hawk Down lacks the former
emotional resonance,
but unlike the latter, which thrives in fact, creating a final product as
- mind a challenge in its construction as it is Mind blowing his
display.
Black Hawk Down movie is a war unparalleled. Other films that I can remember, as
Courage Under Fire, has a powerful story, but fall short of
authenticity. Because of the history, which showed a weak and scandalous
military hierarchy, the director, Ed Zwick, was not granted permission
to use real Army team. As can be read in the trivia / goofs section
that film, British tanks were provided to the production company and
dress up
see how americas M1S. The helicopters used were probably
'Hollywood
arsenal' or rental of the National Guard. Even some of the dialogues and
practices were to rise in the department of realism. As a U.S. Army
vet (1995-2000), I knew when I look at theaters in 1996 that some
uses of weapons and vehicles were not only real! However, Courage Under Fire was
interesting and legitimate. With regard to other war movies that try to tell a story or
worth giving a message, any semblance of military jargon and
practices are shot to hell (the terrible but watchable Rambo III; low Mike
quality Dudikoff vehicle section), or overcooked (
good man
- "Yes sir! To Sir Roger!"), or simply pure McSilly (behind enemy
Lin ).
Black Hawk Down hits the mark in every way. There are no ultra-formal or
heroic Jack Nicholson---A few good men-speeches. The UH-60 and AH-6J
helicopters used are the real planes on loan from the units involved in

and 8 / 4 1993, non-with-slapdash counterfeit spare parts.
Opponents of the film say that this is a flag-waving, recruiting posters,
special effects-only production. They also learn about how the Somalis
were listed as non-humans, the Americans were interchangeable, and that more than
the events surrounding the mission of real life were not portrayed. Well, those same
people either were not in service or miss the mark completely! First of all
note the absence of stars get higher. There are many established
or
at the time and coming players, but fortunately not distract the viewer
, like the A-list heavy soopy The Thin Red Line. Moreover, the American
not appear quite as invincible or - as shown
getting their asses handed to them, arguing among themselves, and suffering
greatly. And
on them interchangeable, as well as some negative comments
state, hey - something we all look the same in BDUs! Save the soldier
RYAN,
a work of fiction (and also a great achievement), which had less
characters, can afford to give each man a face, a name and
connection to the audience. Ridley Scott treaty with dozens of characters thrown
over a hundred actual battle, and therefore impractical.
also Black Hawk Down has nothing to do with "Operation Restore Hope ', which stretched
during 1993 and 1994. That's why some poorly thought out comments
noted that the Somali perspective is not shown or the events that led to the U.S.
/
UN intervention. It is 24 hours, most of the battle of Mogadishu
U.S.
perspective. That's it. Otherwise we would have been a monstrous three hours
production as well as films set in the years 1960 and 1970, as well as the longest
Day and Patton, both of which are applied months World War II, if not years.
I have not seen one, but I am a bit IMDb Junkie, as far as I know!
Black Hawk Down uses composite characters and events spliced together by a
watchable film. Events are composed of, yes, but ... Of course, there is continuity
the occasional error. The CGI effects are impressive. Imagine if
this has been a Dominic West (Con Air, the daughter of GENERAL) film, or
filmed by some Gen X shmoe. There would have been bullet-time cuts, zooms
extreme, and who knows what else? Ridley Scott was the right man for the job
.
Black Hawk Down is without peer. It tells the story of 24 hours in the life
U.S. soldiers in a clear, focused and honorable. What other
true-events movie has come close? Apollo 13 dramatised and has created people and
events of a terrible movie. Gloria and Schindler's List did the same,
successfully and honorably taking liberties with the actual occurrences of
the sake of movie-dom. PS: do not miss Mike Durant's new book "In The Company of
