Dutch (Arnlod Schwarzenegger) and a team of commandos have been sent into a Central American jungle to track down some missing airmen that were kidnapped by terrorists. By the time they get to the camp, the airmen have been butchered in a very violent fashion and the commandos retaliate on the terrorists' camp. After that's over, they wait for a helicopter to pick them up, but something strange begins to happen in the woods. It isn't long before the commandos start getting killed off and Dutch and a girl from the camp, Anna (Elpidia Carrillo), are the only people left and fighting for their lives. But what they discover is too shocking for them to imagine. What's been killing them is the Predator, an alien that hunts rare species and make his trophies out of their skulls. And human beings are the new species he has discovered.

Watch 'Predator', which is one of Arnold Schwarzenegger
best action films, it becomes clear why Arnold's recent return to action ( "End of Days
',` The Sixth Day ) Have Tank at the box office. For some reason,
Arnold's election to men with a dark past in his recent film, men with a
complex background. . . laughably bad men with backstories. His great
characters - such as Dutch Schaeffer in `Predator" - have no background.
It is not necessary. The second Arnold steps on the screen, you know it's time
blood and bullets, plain and simple. Not all moviegoers' cup of tea,
to be sure, but it works. Unlike `End of Days' or` The Sixth Day ',
classic Schwarzenegger action films like `Predator" never insult the audience
trying to explain how often threadbare plot. Predator is a kind of Zen philosophy
-action film - violence and suffering from a line just happen.
`Predator" is a fairly simple story, is essentially a science fiction version
"The most dangerous game '. A group of American soldiers, led by Dutch
(Schwarzenegger) and his rival Dillon (Carl Weathers), drive a real
assault a group of revolutionaries in South americas. Carnage occurs.
After the liquidation of that revolutionary, an alien creature
armed to the teeth with high-powered weapon - the Predator - attacks on American soldiers. More
carnage occurs.
Hey, is not exactly Shakespeare, but thoughtful, well-written
action films are not exactly common. "Predator" serves as an action film - and as
a darn good - because it is so easy (hence, to minimize the holes in the plot
and the head of scratching moments), maintains a high level of emotion,
action and tension, and it's cool. Schwarzenegger is larger than life as
Dutch, swaggering pure testosterone in the best conditions. Jesse `The Body 'rules as
Blaine, Carl Weathers is icily cool as Dillon. . . and so on and so forth. Suffice
sarcastic, a male line of fire and brutal
fill the movie to make it a male teenager instant-type hard-heaven. The Predator looks
and wicked - Stan Winston outdid himself, as the Predator and hare ver
move as a vicious be from another world, acrobats and not just some guy in a suit rubber
. The direction by John McTiernan added the final piece to the puzzle
, cinematography of the jungle is appropriately hot steam, and
claustrophobic, and the rapid pace of the film moves fast between the fire in
all directions action and tension of the game of a dam. . . or be hunted.
All this provides a simple, streamlined, first of all types of
action movie.
Again, not the smartest movie ever made, but `Predator '
still quite good - that Schwarzenegger is likely the best pure action film. (Not
his best film in general, though, that honour belongs to the excellent
"Kindergarten Cop"). "Predator" is a lean, with an average, an intense action film
start to finish.
Grade: B
Consider that many of the roles that Arnold Schwarzenegger takes
are so similar, including the Predator, and yet this movie is much better
than most others. I love to see their movies just because he is
such as a clock capable man, even in their bad movies (which are many),
but I think the thing that really stood out Predator is its simplicity.
The film begins, the boys fell into the jungle, a lot of blood and carnage
flies across the screen, and the film simply ends. No romance, no
complex history, no soldier struggling with problems in his past
or even the trauma caused by the horrible things that experiences during the
film. This is one of the things that made First blood so good. It is possible
become a movie about a bunch of muscle determined in the meatheads
forests, but not insult the audience or try to implement the complexity
a story that can not support it.
Curiously, the film has two potential governors. Jesse Ventura
even wrote a book which was released while he was governor of Minnesota
and he used his favorite line in this movie as the title. And
the book is actually quite interesting, there are some funny stories to
is about things that went into them while filming this movie.
Arnold, moreover, is in reality (and thankfully) a
relatively small amount of a stupid line, which is an idiot
byproduct of tough action films that I've never really understood the
Need. They reveal nothing about the people who say they
not contribute to follow the story or plot, and
with rare exceptions, are not fun. But I suppose Comic Relief has come to
from somewhere, and given that the complexity is not a requirement for
films like this, I can not expect a lot of thought is put into comedy
either content.
Predator I have ever seen when viewed from start to finish and
just re-seen the original Alien. I am currently in the process of re-
see both series, for obvious reasons.
One thing I realize that about two of them is how they occupy their time in
the introduction of the enemies that, in both films, are foreigners. Predator
not waste much time dwelling on the origin of foreign
pretty much assume that came from a spaceship that flashed across the screen in
the opening of the film. Alien, on the other hand, came into
remarkable detail about where they came from their alien. What makes Predator
done very effectively, I think, is that the fight is against some types
very human enemies, allowing the film and then take their sweet time
take them realize that the new enemy is not human at all. This is
also, incidentally, weakly rehash in the sequel, using the secret of this mission
and equipment as an excuse to have more kids who do not know what is happening
.
The death scenes are actually quite tasteful, taking into account gender.
They are just gory enough to illustrate the violence of the enemy without being
free. Simply shown enough to show how vicious abroad
that is, and there are some strange things done for and with bodies that
make you wonder about the intention or needs from abroad. The first death
suggest revenge if not some kind of ritual, but later the
suggest that the foreigner may be feeding off his (or her) victims.
Curiously enough, it is not until terrible Predator 2 that we learned that
kills for sport.
Yes, the film occasionally is embarrassingly macho, but with the ability
which puts together far overshadows any hard-guy goofiness.
Consider, for example, the ease with which the film switches from
showing the boys hunting abroad for their realization that they are
those hunted. In some cases, this transition takes place
during a single shot and with virtually no movement in the shot
all except a change in the expression of someone. It is truly a fight between a group of
Predators, what we understand because they are human like us,
and a single Predator whose powers and weaknesses are unknown.
It is not Oscar material, it must be said, but it is a great action movie, partly because
already know.
