I have read Dreamcatcher and I think it is one of King's most
- under appreciated books. In an interview, King said his wife
not care of it. King wrote in a yellow legal pad while he was recovering
get hit by that van.
I have also heard the audio version of Dreamcatcher, so that all
remains for me was seeing this movie. Although I knew things had
in the book that probably will not go to the screen,
I have been pleasantly surprised by how many did. However, some scenes were so short
were little more tributes.
The cinematography is beautiful from start to finish, but where
first half of the film considered pace to perfection, the last half
felt rushed. The order was different than the book, so be prepared for a shock
.
was good, I especially enjoyed Jason Lee as Joe 'Beaver'
Clarenden and Damian Lewis as Gary 'Jonesy' Jones.
A real disappointment was Thomas Jane as Dr. Henry Devlin. Pretty Woody
acting there.
Before seeing this movie, I would not have believed that Morgan Freeman could play
Kurtz. I made a mistake. That guy can play anything.
Unfortunately, it does not receive sufficient opportunities to deepen this crazy SOB
Jonsey dual nature are treated differently in the movie than it was in the book
. Too bad. It was just right in the book, and gave him a
more "Hollywood" treatment in the film.
Note to Editor: This film not because it was not enough time spent
the introduction of these characters and we care about them. The
notable exceptions to this where Jonesy and Beaver.
Remember: SSDD.

First, any movie with exotic worms out the wazoo I just like somehow.
Unlike other horror flicks they deem it unnecessary to show a monster,
"Dreamcatcher" offers space incubating worms and other unfriendlies ET. I thank
monsters. It gave the slime and blood
I've come to love and cherish.
Sorry to say that although the film feels as if it had been edited
with a lawn mower. Normally, I would like to have my space anal worm attacks and go home happy
. However, "Dreamcatcher" is so disjointed that you get the distinct impression that
the book should have explained much of what you're seeing.
Wish I had a set of Cliff Notes with me while I was watching. The film
makes you begin to ask you a lot of questions. For example
... *

OK, so Duddits is a foreigner. So why not warn that these four children from a
next invasion? Is there anything special about these guys? It was the
alien waiting for someone to be friendly with him? Why choose a foreigner as its
conceal a child late? Surely he could have chosen something a little more fun
while waiting for the worm invasion. And if he knows
foreigners who are coming, why not do something about it instead of wasting
away from Earth and in the hope of his four friends figure? A foreigner has
more than one of human beings. Why evil alien named "Mr. Grey"? Does the human host
English is one thing for bad boys? And finally, why call the
movie "Dreamcatcher"? I have not seen Dream capture. Nor do I understand why
be a Dreamcatcher was important for anyone. Why not call it "Attack of
Slime worms"?
As I was leaving the theater, I realized that would have helped a lot when I was
read the book. I am sure that all my questions have been answered. The film
"Dreamcatcher" simply could not put everything together. But on the positive side, there was
Ravenous space worms.
