Lauren (Jennifer Lopez), an impassioned American reporter for the Chicago Sentinel heads to Juarez, a Mexican bordertown, in order to investigate a series of mysterious slayings involving young factory women from all over Mexico. As she discovers hundreds of victims, she gains the trust of local factory workers but falls into danger.

This is a film that is not a memorable example of cinematography (
the plot is very Hollywood-ish, especially for a film based on a true story
), but the acting is quite good and giving
the viewer a fair idea of what is happening in places far away (sometimes not so far
after all), where our daily lives gizmos are actually built these days.
And it's not a pretty picture, by any means. I think the film
designed to expose the horrible truth of what has been happening in the U.S. right to
border, where hundreds of women have been slaughtered
over the past decade or so. But that was not all, because this nightmare not, and
not come from nowhere: it comes directly from the disastrous
situation that exists in modern times sweat houses (aka as
& # 39; Factories' for large corporations) and around
favelas, where their workers live. And the sweat of the houses are a direct consequence
result, among the rest, "trade agreements" like NAFTA. Tan,
although some people might not like it, this is a film policy,
and quite rightly. And now that I think about it, it does some good in it
cinematography: I feel very good photography. I liked
yellow, like the desert tone that permeates the entire film.

How slam a film with a good conscience, if he thinks the
films' theme is very important? And yet, there is no alternative more
to criticize the filmmakers for the poor work they have done. That is
'Bordertown'.
The Berlin film festival - where 'Bordertown' premiere -
director Greg Nava (who also wrote the screenplay), and co-producer Barbara Martinez
Jennifer Lopez (who also produced) leaves no doubt the importance of
the film is for them. A website that accompanies the film is supposed to
raise money for the people in Juarez, special projections should do the same
. More than the hope that 'Bordertown' to draw attention to the
the murders of so many women in the border between Mexico and the U.S..
And perhaps this attention will help prevent more killings and perhaps even
help solving some cases. After all, according to Nava
400 corpses were found over the years, only 3 in the past 14 days. 4000
women still missing.
And it's not just that nobody cares about women (they have no
'economic value', Nava said at the press conference, and it's true:
They make 4 dollars a day, and even enough women would be happy to take
jobs). Apparently there are people who do not want the film makers
touch the topic: Nava received death threats, an assistant
who worked with the second unit in Juarez received a beating by police
(According to Martinez). Someone broke into his hotel room, and when
that "someone" realized that not going to stop filming stole
cameras. Principal Part of the film was not shot in Juarez, but in most
support to the cities of Mexico and in factories that are also useful.
'Bordertown' is a film that deserves support.
And yet is how to break the bad heart is the film. It is not just bad,
is also sometimes pathetic and not very logical.
Lauren Lopez plays a journalist who is sent to Juarez to write an article about the murders
. She lived in the area, which has a former lover
Diaz (Banderas), who runs a newspaper in Juarez. The
is reluctant to contribute to it until a girl shows - Eva (Maya Zapata) that were violated
but survived because the guys who made it his thought was dead. Eva
is able to identify the murderers, but this puts her and Lauren
in grave danger. Lauren still continues its investigation ...

'Bordertown' is a Hollywood movie that is supposed to make money in
lockers. Let's forgive the filmmakers that much of the film
is "running and hiding" action typical for this type of thrillers.
But it is simply stupid that Lauren is finally considering
give up her career because of the tragic events. Nava Lopez
should have done a pretty standard journalist, which would have made the film less
pathetic. Asim, could not resist his desire to give a fund Lauren
that is quite ridiculous. And some of the research work she is doing
is simply incredible.

obviously the movie was so important to him Nava failed in the final.
A good journalist should never be too involved with the theme being
work. A good filmmaker or, as it seems. Still: If this movie
really helps to change things in Juarez, if done the same cinema-
research assistants a little more - thumbs up 'Bordertown'. I personally recommend
read about the murders while.
