Well, ladies and gentlemen, is a new millennium and Quentin Tarantino
has a new movie for us. After changing the landscape of popular cinema
in the 1990's with the classics "Reservoir Dogs", "Pulp Fiction" and
much lesser degree, "Jackie Brown", Tarantino went into half
a decade hibernation, accompanied by little more than a television,
a film projector, and compiling records of Johnny Cash and a bong.
But now he is back after a hiatus of six years with "Kill Bill", an exciting journey with great
style of his previous films and a brilliant tribute to the Shaw Brothers
arts flicks martial of the 1970's and the heroes of action
the same decade with includs Charles Bronson, Telly Savalas,
Burt Reynolds, Clint Eastwood, Fred Williamson, Steve McQueen, Jim Brown and
James Coburn. "Kill Bill" is also a chockablock in passing references to
films like "Master of the Flying Guillotine", "Wu", and
television as "Hattori Hanz." This
contains many of the elements that made his earlier films so entertaining and
continues the tradition that a.
You have the evil genius, the score of funky, retro-hip
cultural artifacts and lots of non-stop, brace on his face action that is not
be missed . Also once again, action has been divided into chapters with
narrattion voiceover to boot, plus it has even reached a new trick from his sleeve
in which the story is told with some fantasy anime Japanese.
Basically the film gives a lot of screen time for the actress Uma Therma
and she carries the film with the testimony of a diva gold
she is. The film rises and falls with it, and Thurman pulling out
beautifully in one of the best performances of the year.
Thurman plays a professional murderer, a criminal group of bodacious
martial arts-trained murderers (Vivica A. Fox, Daryl Hannah and Lucy Liu
) being carried by the invisible shadow bill (which not seen in the first
share played by David Carradine). Among the crew is called Black Mamba
, but others simply known as The
girlfriend because she was betrayed in his wedding day and killed when she left her
and its short term for children dead. But she gets her revenge against
who tried to kill her and then the story is a journey of emotion
kind that lead to the next so expect the unexpected. However, a large number of body parts cut
get here and some of it is very ugly
includes scenes of decapitation and the heads of half a head, one leg in a drastic cut
takeoff and an Achilles tendon is slashing, one eye and some fingers
get bitten too. This film also has brought some really good
Kung-Fu stars of the 1970's that includes Sonny Chiba, aka "The
Street Fighter" and many more ....... I am surprised that martial arts
actress Michelle Yeoh is not in it. And by the way, what we
Quentin Tarantino film would not be right without their main man Samuel L.
Jackson in the role as the body Man. Jackson, however, was in two
Tarantino films such as the role that should have received the Oscar for
in "Pulp Fiction," which also starred opposite Thurman and Pam Grier
"Jackie Brown" .
however, the film ends in a Cliffhanger so you'll have to wait until the next payment
to go in early 2004. Be forewarned, this
not for the kiddies, so be careful to see that. In total, a hellva
thrilling ride.
Tarantino probably the most universal film to date, with a little less
nature of dependency that most of his films and a more linear
more than usual, Kill Bill Volume 1 is a good place to start for
someone new to their films. I do not want to imply it is a superficial film (far from it
), I simply seemed easier in the minds of
other Tarantino movies.
Uma Thurman, left for dead by her ex-boyfriend (Bill) does not die and
begins his quest for revenge, hunting of the bill to gang members
Search of a bill. Armed with a Samurai sword and a deadly mixture of
knowledge of martial arts, Uma offers action, violence and passion as she
plays the character with beautiful precision.
Need I say, this is superbly directed,
brilliant script and cast, and must be in all Tarantino collection.
10/10 Second only to Pulp Fiction. Despite having greater use (I think
