This Martin Scorsese film depicts the Janus-like quality of Las Vegas--it has a glittering, glamorous face, as well as a brutal, cruel one. Ace Rothstein and Nicky Santoro, mobsters who move to Las Vegas to make their mark, live and work in this paradoxical world. Seen through their eyes, each as a foil to the other, the details of mob involvement in the casinos of the 1970's and '80's are revealed. Ace is the smooth operator of the Tangiers casino, while Nicky is his boyhood friend and tough strongman, robbing and shaking down the locals. However, they each have a tragic flaw--Ace falls in love with a hustler, Ginger, and Nicky falls into an ever-deepening spiral of drugs and violence.

I must admit my bias, because I think Scorcese can not do evil -
ever. Even their lesser-known or critical assessment of the films are over the "great
movie" line, and Casino is certainly no exception.

Casino covers three decades and chronicles the true story of a faction of the mob that went
Casinos of Las Vegas. Robert DeNiro plays Ace Rothstein, a fantastic
bookie who is elected to run the Tangiers hotel and Casino.
Along the way, marries a drug-addicted artist trophy-wife (Sharon Stone)
and struggles with his friendship with loose cannon-Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci
). Rothstein is a complicated figure it is not a heavy, but he
exerts a lot of power because of the respect he has earned his mafia chiefs
back home.

Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci are both fantastic in their roles, and Sharon Stone
was not really irritating. As the viewer,
can not stand it, but that is the point. Scorcese normal
supporting cast are also involved in this movie, including its great mother - although she has generally
incredibly minimal functions, are always memorable.

Scorcese seems to have different management styles, and Casino
follows in the tradition of Goodfellas as a pseudo-documentary. A lot of
exposure is evidenced by the same characteristics as
voice credits, and several scenes are filmed in documentary fashion. The entire production
however, is elegant and very fast. The use of music Bears
well as mentioning: Most Martin Scorcese films have a surprising banda sonora
and that adds power to the scene. Being a child of the MTV age, I am a sucker for
good use of music in movies and Scorcese is a teacher. Scorcese
not only use the banda sound, which is part of the story -
of music, chronologically know what time we are witnessing,
since one can not rely on other factors such as fashion for themselves.
One of my favorite scenes in the film which in practice means the music is really
Casino - very intense scene when the relationship between DeNiro, Pesci
Stone and reach a head at the height of the film. The pounding music cutting
throughout this scene is a cover of "Satisfaction" by Devo and the result is
absolutely brilliant.

Being a complete film geek, I usually do not go to films include
some stars, going to movies and certain directors
Scorcese is one of them. While this was probably the tenth time I had seen this movie
there were more things I realized, and I am sure we will realize more my eleventh
:. The man is a genius, and a gift for cinema -
my suggestion is to watch some of his films, and then leave before his incredible series, "A Journey
staff with Martin Scorcese across Films Americas ", which was conducted
the same year that Casino. The series is essentially a study on the history of film
, sectioned off the film genres. You not only experience
his incredible intellect and knowledge massive movie history, but also his humility
incredible.
