The story follows the life of low I.Q. Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) and his meeting with the love of his life Jenny. The film chronicles his accidental experiences with some of the most important people and events in America from the late 1950's through the 1970's including a meeting with Elvis Presley, JFK, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, fighting in Vietnam, etc. The problem is, he's too stupid to realize the significance of his actions. Forrest becomes representative of the baby boomer generation having walked through life blindly.

This is flat out one of the best films of 1994. We won a good image for a
reason, along with some other Academy Awards. I think one of the label
lines for the film was "The world will never be the same once
seen through the eyes of Forrest Gump. "How true.
The film is basically a simple man's journey through life. And what a trip.
The film opens with Forrest (Hanks) sitting at a bus stop, waiting to go see
Jenny (Wright) after being apart from her for years. That is
Jenny, you ask? We'll get to that in a minute. Forrest a strike
conversation or two with people who come and wait for the bus with him
. Or, more precisely, he continues to speak
whether anyone is listening or not. The film plays like a flashback, with Forrest
taking us through all the important events in his life and
narrating.
The flashback begins when Forrest is a child, about six years
or so, just at about the age where they should start school. We received
look at Forrest of childhood as it becomes
leg braces to straighten his back as his momma (Field) fight (and a few other things
) to get him in public school , And as he meets for the first time
the love of his life. Jenny. He meets her on the road to
school, sitting next to her on the bus, and strike up a friendship
immediately.
time we move to the point where Forrest and Jenny are
in high school, and traveled along with Forrest as he does in
football team and comes to go to college. Forrest and Jenny never date, but
is always there to protect it. Every time he thinks it is in
problems, he rushes to the rescue, ready to strike while loving snot
of anyone who has yet Jenny in his evil. I think one of my favorite
scenes in the film is when someone is dumb enough to slap
Jenny. The film is slower, Forrest's eyes go wide, and he begins
load this guy like a runaway locomotive, and has a surprising
force one. Watching him beat the crap out of that kind is
hilarious.
As Forrest grows and goes through school, college, the army,
Vietnam tour, becomes a celebrity Tennis, a shrimp boat captain, and finally
one of the richest men there, some have also reached
stops in history as the filmmaker gives us his own spin on how they
think that history would have happened if Forrest Gump were there. He
to meet with the President three times, he is the man who exposed the Watergate scandal
, which is at the school gates when the
Governor George Wallace tries to get some blacks in a school whites, and so forth
. It's really fun how they manipulate historical footage
Forrest insert into the events of the past.
This is truly a great movie. You be a fool to lose.
Bottom Line: 4 out of 4 (the owner of this movie)
Quite simply, the greatest movie ever made.
Humor, sadness, action, drama and a movie of Vietnam all rolled into one.
I'm not a stone cold, cruel villain, but has much to do
mourn me when I see a movie. Bambi's mother, I could not care less.
Jimmy Stewart, "Oh, how wonderful life" - yeah right! The Lion King, Mufasa
when the big bites - on the verge.
But seriously - I bawled my big brown eyes, on several occasions in
this movie. A real tear-jerk, and a wonderful character, played to perfection
of Tom Hanks. Every bit as worthy as the Oscar for Rooney
was to win the Premiership in 2007.
I can not say it enough: this is the film of all time. Watch and see
.
