Brandon Lang loves football: an injury keeps him from the pros, but his quarterback's anticipation makes him a brilliant predictor of games' outcomes. Needing money, he leaves Vegas for Manhattan to work for Walter Abrams advising gamblers. Walter has a doting wife, a young daughter, and a thriving business, but he has problems: a bum heart, a belief he's a master manipulator, and addictions barely kept in check. He remakes Brandon, and a father-son relationship grows. Then, things go awry. Walter may be running a con. The odds against Brandon mount.

There is a scene at the beginning of the film that seems to set the tone
"Two for the Money." We as Walter Abrams is
speaking on the phone with someone who will not be able to provide an elephant
for his daughter's birthday party. Walter barks to his aide, "Get me
Ringling." When the call finally comes across, requires
know if he is talking to or Barnum Bailey, who is a funny line.
Was not P.T. Barnum himself the man famous for this quote about a
sucker born every minute?
Walter Abrams is a man who is in the business of sports betting. The
and its partners can make millions of hitches chasing
placing bets with their firm. After finding a new rising star, Brandon
Lang, a man who knows a lot about the complexities of point spreads and
picking winners. Walter wants to be transformed into a man who can put more money
as a whole.
To that end, Walter boyfriend owes to "see" the party. As such,
Brandon becomes John Anthony, the man who can produce fabulous results
every weekend during the series of football. Brandon comes to satisfying the
people with inside information, but little is done to know that this is far from
what is expected of him. After all, he is as good as the winners
he can produce.
The film, directed by DJ Caruso, a man who has worked extensively in television
, looks bright. The game screen by Dan Gilroy
could have used some tighter editing, because in two hours feels a bit long.
Al Pacino, as Walter, has some good moments, we've seen the best
functions, and this is a composite of other things he has done before.
Mr Pacino compensated when the game screen is not going anywhere
of the implementation of an intensity that does not go along with others playing
front of him. Matthew McConaughey is a lightweight actor, apart
his good looks, does not bring anything to this story. Rene Russo
is obviously a tall woman who towers over Mr. Pacino in most
their scenes together. Their relationship did not come across as a real thing
. Armand Assante and Jeremy Piven good
make contributions in supporting the directors. Although
"Two for the Money" is by no means a terrible film, only
has nothing new to say.
Al Pacino brings this movie all by himself.
I can not think of a way that this issue could have been done without Pacino.
Of course, Matthew McConaughey and Rene Russo gave convincing performances,
Pacino, but it makes you feel sorry for the miserable, empty of content is a man
.
The plot was incredibly intricate and well led, but (again)
without Pacino that were not delivered nearly as well.
I think that should have found a way to include a brief explanation as to how
sports betting works, so fans who came in just to see Pacino
would be able to understand how works. In addition, sometimes the only film
and lasted and the ...
I still think that Al Pacino is the film. Pacino actually extends
itself the way it always is done to keep the film alive and moving.
His character was one of the most miserable men I've ever seen, while
i hated him, I identified a small part of myself with him, and
that is the sign of a truly great actor.
