Cynthia, TV producer, has an idea about how to save the station: A normal person's life should be broadcasted 24 hours a day. "Ed TV" is born the second her eye falls on Ed Pekurny, a sympathetic Joe Sixpack. After the first week on air Eds fame grows and grows, but conflicts break open: His brother Ray publishes a very negative book about Ed, who now dates Ray's ex; Ed's parent's partnership problematics are broadcasted nationwide and a very attractive and seducing model uses innocent Ed to raise her own fame. Also, Ed's contract proves to be unquittable, so that Ed Pekurny suddenly can see the golden bars around his cage. But in a country that switches the TV set on for breakfast and off for bedtime, nearly everything can happen - and people can be counted on.

Edtv will inevitably be compared with Peter Weir's The Truman Show
but does not really have much in common. The Truman Show was taken far too
seriously. Edtv is a very black comedy, a satire on television
modern culture.
Producers of a television network in the absence of deciding to try and take a punt
new format - a real television in a Doco ordinary life. They
hearing and elect Ed (Matthew McConaghey), a rangy,
slobbish
video store worker who has been bitten once or twice in love, the kind of
< br> colleagues leaving with a cup of beer tied around his neck.
Ed assumes the challenge in part because he is fairly and broke
partly because he is bored, he urged his little hop, small brain, big
< br> muscled brother Ray played by Woody Harrelson. A few days later in the shoot
Ray casts over his girlfriend Shari (Jenna Elfman) and Ed wins his

The talent of the cast (not to mention who is director Ron Howard)
provides a lot of life to Edtv. Often it is really fun.
McConaughey
uses to gain smile to perfection, even if he has a
early morning, half asleep

Woody Harrelson is an actor with real talent and can play a

It is not often that such characters are treated cordially
in this type of film, then we must ask ourselves how our own families
will fare in

And it is also interesting to wonder how much the average Aussie
Edtv is considered to be a satire given the popularity of Rikki Lake and
his race, not to mention the Home Video more fun types of programs. It
TV real life (is there such a thing) and that was even more shocking that
Edtv?
Edtv is outrageous enough to be satire?
There are a few minutes in boring Edtv (mostly to do with
Elizabeth Hurley as the emergence of a pot of sex), but Edtv shows once again that Hollywood
is not as stupid as it does to be.
It is true that television launch its new concept - Real Life TV, where cameras follow
a person's life 24 / 7 and put it all on television, unedited. When Ed creeps
his brother in the audition tape that catches the eye of study and he
the fate becomes the subject of Edtv! However, when it falls by Ray's girlfriend Shari
things gets tough and he believes that his new found fame
is not all it cracked to become.
emerge from the shadow of The Truman Show came
another movie about reality TV and nature of fame. However, this has little to do with
Truman in terms of content but tries to be more of a comedy and
tries to mix a bit of social commentary. The story is essentially a
romance, but not convincing. It does not work simply because the whole idea of seeing
fame, and studies the reality TV is more interesting (although
not loose). The film promises much but is not using
potential - the comedy is never a fun as you expect to see the fame and television
is never as smart or as deep as you think.
It is a shame that is not better, because the cast is good on paper.
McConaughey is still a rising star (though you need a big hit shortly).
Harrelson is good because it is usually when the support and Elfman is quite good as
Shari. The supporting cast is too big - Landau is fun,
DeGeneres is good, Reiner is fun and evil, while lesser roles are filled out by the likes
Hurley, Dennis Hopper, Clint Howard. Get the latter and has
tons of cameos little taste of Harry Shearer, Michael Moore,
Jay Leno and George Plimpton.
In general this is more enjoyable - it's just that you feel that everything is part
have the potential that never fully realised. It's OK but you can not help feeling that
is a missed opportunity.
