Cool and deadly NYPD detective John Shaft arrests Walter Wade, Jr. in a racially-motivated slaying. The eye witness disappears, Wade jumps bail for Switzerland, and Shaft is livid. Two years later, Wade returns to face trial, confident his father's money and influence (and racial politics) guarantee an innocent verdict. Shaft looks hard for the witness, so Wade wants someone to kill her. He turns to a ghetto drug king, Peoples Hernandez, who's willing to kill for money, use Wade as a route to rich drug customers, and shaft Shaft. Can Shaft find the witness, convince her to testify, and shepherd her through the hail of bullets that Peoples is sure to let fly?

I went to see this film expecting to see a big-budget remake of the original
Shaft, and what I have.

This version is much more violent than the original, do not seem to be
in the axis of style. The pace and editing in the first half of the film

were fast and smooth. John Singleton has done a great job in setting the axis of
character and plot. During the second half of the film (where the action really begins
), however, the film begins to lose is original
slickness.

Samuel L. Jackson is really a great axis, which is probably the only player out there
(besides the great Richard Roundtree) who could pull this, and he
does an excellent job. This time, however, we do not really see
Del axis of the "Ladies' Man", with the exception of a couple of insinuations
with minor characters. As I said, Jackson Shaft is a little too violent (even for a
desensitized, Tarantino fan like me). Christian Bale, after playing a
cold, wealthy psychopath murderer in "American Psycho", plays a. .. cold, rich,
psychopathic murderer. He is perfect in its ability to make us feel

absolutely no compassion for him. It is impossible not to mention Bustah Rhymes
in a small but important role as an axis of driver / assistant. Providing some of the
Comic Relief, taking some strain off of Jackson.

I thoroughly enjoyed Isaac Hayes' Oscar-Winning theme, which plays
throughout the film.

This axis is a great movie for anyone who is a fan of the original Sam
Jackson, or big action films in general.
A pleasant but nevertheless quite silly and a half remake of the classic television
is the new John Shaft (Samuel L. Jackson)
beating a white racist (Christian Bale) and get booted off the police force .
Everybody in this movie is a racist - mostly white - and all this
idea is too forced. The language and violence is full of potholes, however,
the film itself is quite ridiculous, with not very good scenes, and only a few mediocre
action sequences. Morale is a little depressing: if someone wrongs you,
or someone of his race, then beat up and kill them once they reappear.
Richard Roundtree's cameo helps a little, but regardless, this tree is still
only "good" at best.
