Murder By Numbers is a psychological suspense-thriller that tells the story of a tenacious homicide detective, Cassie Mayweather ('Sandra Bullock' (qv)) and her new partner Sam Kennedy ('Ben Chaplin' (qv)) who become pitted against two malevolently brilliant young men ('Ryan Gosling (I)' (qv) and 'Michael Pitt (II)' (qv)) in an ingenious battle of wits as they try to solve a murder case.

As a hard-nosed police investigating a seemingly motiveless murder, and
appearing to unravel as she does, Sandra Bullock does something real
approximation to act in Barbet Schroeder's thriller
too familiar. Ryan Gosling and Michael Pitt play a couple of high school
children who commit a Loeb / Leopold style crime, planting a series of false
'clues' to the police will to build an image of the murderer. They even have a suspect
aligned. Of course, the only thing that non-bank
Bullock was in the chip-on-the-shoulder uberbitch detective.
Schroeder does not build his film visually. It has a conventional
TV movie feel to it and, despite being well played, Pitt's nerdy
all-knowing geek is a little too formulas. But the movie holds you
nevertheless. Schroeder shows a narrator for the gift of how things should develop
, (although a sub-participation in an earlier case of violence
Bullock life looks like an unnecessary intrusion). And as the cock of the walk
arrogant rich kid yet vulnerable murderer
Ryan Gosling is the real McCoy. You can convey the charm and menace in equal measure and
often at the same time and confirmed its status as one of the best
young actors in movies in one minute.
slower moving film I've seen in a long time. Include this with the fact
is basically boring (especially Sandra Bullock) along, and you have
a film that begins with the large number of possibilities, but it drags along with plot
holes that are so obvious ... is a "crime" in itself.
The two boys in the film does a great job .. and even make up for
Sandra Bullock, obviously, "above" act as the "hard man"
female detective. Were it not for the two adolesent plotters ... this movie
not yet reached a level of 5 rating I gave.
