FBI Agent Will Graham has been called out of early retirement to catch a serial killer, known by authorities as "The Tooth Fairy". He asks for the help of his arch-nemesis, Dr. Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter, so that he can be able to catch "The Tooth Fairy" and bring him to justice. The only problem is that "The Tooth Fairy" is getting inside information about Graham and his family from none other than Dr. Lecter.

The film's going public is obviously well acquainted with the most famous murderer
serial cannibal in film history, Hannibal Lecter. In 2002 the
'Red Dragon', Hannibal is back with force and vengeance, thanks to the
brilliant portrait of Sir Anthony Hopkins and inspired written
screenwriter Ted Tally. He's got some of the best lines in the business.
'Red Dragon', for the most part is a remake of Michael Mann, 1986
'Manhunt'. Clearly there is not much variation between the two
since both are adaptations of Thomas Harris' book 'Red Dragon'. But that is
simularity is completed. Of course, some scenes are struct the same, but to be fair
latter is closer and more faithful to the novel.
For those who read the book or seen 'Manhunt' is not surprising that Hannibal
rather had a small role. Ted Tally has taken some licenses and strengthen
crucial for some scenes, add a very interesting and inventive
, it's worth. From the beginning, we see the capture of Hannibal FBI agent
Graham, played without problems on this occasion by Edward Norton. We are also deprived
a more intense rd, anger and resentment for being caught
and then saved. Hopkins does not need to do much to convey their displeasure by
Graham, the true talent of an excellent actor. Rd is no longer the top
as many say it was in the third film 'Hannibal'. But this is not really a
rd history. It focuses more on Graham and the new murderer in the
block,
Francis Dolarhyde (played to perfection by a eeriely Ralph Fiennes). One
not advisory, if 'The Silence of the Lambs' or' Hannibal ', gave
nightmares, you can not be prepared to' ; Dragon '. It was absolutely brutal in it
visual elements and psychological mind games. Dolarhyde, aka the "
Tooth Fairy" is a brutal serial murderer who has killed two families and can be
seeking a third. This is what brings Jack Crawford (Harvey Keitel
)
in seeking seek a retiree Graham. Reluctantly, Graham decides
help with the investigation. Graham has a true gift, can
think as the murderer. But it does cause a dilemma.
The only person who can really give our detectives the vision you need is a man who tried to kill him
, reader. As Clarice in 'Silence' Graham must once again
rd delve into the world of asylum. Frederick Chilton
returns as the head of asylum, once again played by Anthony Heald
(the "old friend for dinner" guy). Heald is an absolute delight
in an awkward sort of way. He is definitely a takeoff. Basically, he did not
nearly as smart as he thinks it is. Possibly the most disturbing character
the film is played by Fiennes. The murderer is essentially a sympathetic, and yet
you sure you want to see this guy goes down. Fiennes is impressive in this role
and adds his own spark to the role. Emily Watson Fiennes plays poorly
interest that love becomes blind luck for her.
Philip Seymour Hoffman is the sleazy tabloid reporter that the time is destined to get his
comupance. It is truly regrettable that the Academy Awards not to hand
condition overall casts. If they did, 'Red Dragon', probably
be the only nomination in the category. There has been a cast like this
in many years. There is a balance between the three main characters,
rd, Graham, and Dolarhyde. Rd was there long enough to keep it fresh and
constantly on the edge. Dolarhyde takes over the edges and Graham subtly
leads him back. Brett Ratner as director did an excellent job in
establishing scenes, creepy atmosphere, and let the actors do what they do best
. This film is a winner all the way around. If any thriller
were against 'Silence', this can be overcome which could
in terms of emotions, chills and simply excellent storytelling. Although the
4 films are destined to be lumped together, "Manhunt", "The Silence of the Lambs
',' Hannibal 'and' Dragon Red, 'which is completely understandable
,' Dragon 'is on its own. And it does so very well.
This film is not, obviously, for everybody. There is graphic violence that is
disturbing. However, this vehicle is not overplayed as to say, your average
slasher movie. If you are going to plunk down your hard earned cash for a
film, 'Red Dragon' is the one. It's a good solid
interesting movie that never lets go
. Once you have, you have. And the tour starts as
lights in the theatre go down. There are too many films that can
account with that.

I saw 'Manhunt' ages ago so do not bother to make comparisons.
Ratner 'Red Dragon' was smeared with blood, gore and violence
(obviously to pull a crowd). It is far so good '
Silence of the Lambs', but a good watch, mainly due to the smelter (
ranging from very good to awful). Let's get to that later.
What bothers me most about "Red Dragon was the use of cliches and
silly twists (I mean how many times we have to see the murderer return
death in the past time only to die in the hands of the hero?).
The letter also not convinced. Crawford and his team
Hoffman's indifference towards the death of Freddie not resolved fairly well with me.
After all, they were responsible for it. Ratner film is quite
as an average slasher thriller with some strong characters (
Emily Watson as Reba's and Francis's Ralph Fiennes) famous actors and a good
technology.
Now we talk about actors, Anthony Hopkins seems to really go over the top this time
almost as if spoofing Hannibal Lecter. Perhaps the
tired of playing the cannibal. Ralph Fiennes looks like Francisco miscast
but is brilliant in her scenes with Watson. Harvey Keitel is quite
bad. Edward Norton does a good job in general. He is exceptional in some scenes but
Graham indifference towards the death of Freddie removes
their performance. I do not understand why an actor like Philip Seymour Hoffman
opted to play a typical character like Freddy Lounds
that is a stretch we know who is going to die. Mary-Louise Parker makes good use of your screen
shortly. Emily Watson is excellent (which acts
clearly the best of all).
In general, if not for the players, I have not liked as much
. There are some scenes that are very effective and is the
actors to convince. Examples include scenes with Watson and
Fiennes, the last scene with Norton and Watson, Parker and Norton's
scenes and the first scene with Hopkins and Norton.
