Strangers from all different walks of life: a limo driver escorting a movie star, parents with a young son, a cop transporting a convict, a prostitute, a young couple, and a motel manager are caught up in a nasty rainstorm, stuck at a motel in desolate Nevada. Soon they realize they may be at the motel for another reason when one by one, people start getting killed off. As tensions flare and fingers are pointed, they have to get to the bottom of why they're there. Meanwhile in an undisclosed location, a psychiatrist is trying to prove the innocence of a man accused of murder in an eleventh hour trial. How these two through-lines are related can only be found in Identity.

In a dark and stormy night 11 foreigners had to take refuge in an isolated motel
when a storm becomes a monsoon. One by one
begin to be killed ... but that and why?

The set-up is clean (if predictable) and there is a large opening that shows how
the actions of one of them (Amanda Peet)
inadvertantly causes serious harm to others . There are also some large by Peet, John C.
McGinley and Ray Liotta (who actually chew the scenery). There are also some
moments that will make you jump and there are two neat twists in
end.

The only bad things about this movie is clumsy exposition of some (John Cusack
recounts his entire life story, while photographing a corpse), some really bad lines and a
surprisingly poor performance from Cusack. What happened to him
? He looks worn and Haggard in this movie.

However, these are minor problems and the film is worth seeing and
keeps you guessing about what happens until the last minute. Valer
capture.

Never before have I seen a movie that made me sit on the edge of my seat
virtually from the opening credits. And I never sit.

This is a psychological thriller of the best kind. There's a lot of
opportunity for you to name the "bad guy" and while it may be
right in a sense is also likely to be wrong. The end is a real shock
- and I suspect that the typical reaction of many viewers is
say "No way" - but if you think about it, is the only possible
coming to an end. But you have to think about it - and the film is so full of action
never have time. Therefore, the exercise must come
after the closing credits roll.

I had never seen John Cusack anything but a comedy before (except
a film called "Max", but I've seen that before I knew it was Cusack).
Threw out the drama alike, as does the comedy. An impressive
talent.
