Man on the Moon is a biographical movie on the late comedian Andy Kaufman. Kaufman, along with his role on "Taxi," was famous for being the self-declared Intergender Wrestling Champion of the world. After beating women time and time again, Jerry Lawler (who plays himself in the movie), a professional wrestler, got tired of seeing all of this and decided to challenge Kaufman to a match. In most of the matches the two had, Lawler prevailed with the piledriver, which is a move by spiking a guy head-first into the mat. In one of the most famous moments in this feud was in the early 80s when Kaufman threw coffee on Lawler on "The Late Show with David Letterman," got into fisticuffs with Lawler, and proceeded to sue NBC.

I've been a fan of Andy Kaufman for quite some time. True, I was around six
Andy when he died. But somehow this strange man was able to affect both my job
and prospects. So it goes without saying that I was waiting for this movie. And I
not be disappointed.
Critics complain that while participation, this film does not leave the viewer in
that was exactly Kaufman. It is very simple: there is no real Andy Kaufman.
was socially inept, absolutely brilliant, and a strange and distant

His sense of humor (even if there was one) was not for everybody to understand

That was the point. So why should a film spoil the mystery? The man was
Monday as a tribute to Andy, not an explanation, and much better than
boring, lifeless documentaries on E! Central or comedy in which
uninteresting
comedians try to explain why Andy was brilliant. It is common knowledge that
explain a joke makes it humorous (a concept that toy with Andy in his
Man Foreign routine, remember?)
; It is true that some facts were altered for dramatic purposes (although the truth is equally interesting
), or maybe just need, but the basic story remains
quite accurate. Some of the more humorous moments in the race for Kaufman
were not mentioned (that is, their actions
to Johnny Carson and David Letterman, his work with
performance artist Laurie Anderson, his preaching street corner). But lets face
everything that can not and need not be included. The film is able to capture the essence of
Kaufman the world. If you want to see everything
Kaufman did find a recording of it and see.
Carrey is brilliant as Kaufman. Some call it an imitation, even though
seems overly simplified and absurd. This is an imitation along the lines
Geoffrey Rush for Shine, or Hilary Swank in children do not cry, or Richard Farnsworth in the run
history. Of course, Carrey observes the uses and the many peculiarities Kaufman
without fault, but its observation goes far beyond what any other actor
seems capable of doing. Carrey is Andy Kaufman. Therefore, many seem willing to admit that
Carrey can act.
Taken on its own, Man on the Moon is a magical, fun and wonderful
film.
Taken with the rest of the sources currently available to Andy Kaufman,
this is just another facet of a complex career and a tribute to a brilliant man
.
