Two totally incompetent applicants, Emmett Fitzhume and Austin Millbarge, are chosen from a CIA recruitment program. They are parachuted into Pakistan and eventually end up in Afghanistan, chased by the Russians, where they learn they are being used as decoys to draw out the Sovet defenses. Two real spies are sent in. Their mission is to Hijack a soviet Missile launcher, launch the Soviet missile and test the new US orbital defence laser. The missile is fired and while heading for an American City, the laser system misses it's target. The contingency plan for this scenario, as set out by the Pentagon Nuts who planned it from deep within a secret underground bunker, is to let the 3rd World War happen anyway.

I loved this movie growing, and that is that I can still laugh
today. Chase and Aykroyd have always established in the mid-80 standard
than it was fun, and this movie proves it. Of course there are
defects, and that probably could have been better ... but what is worthwhile,
I think it is definitely worth owning, let alone watching.
Judging by the comments about Spies Like Us because it seems
most people, in fact, make like it. Of course, is destined to be a
comedy and nothing else. If people are looking for a
break-through films as spies watching us, then, yes ...
would be disappointed.
Good characters, akward situations, changes in the pleasant scenery, and
a classic of the line .... I give it an 8, in general.
As so often in their careers, Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd
not necessary to stretch their talents in the least during this spy comedy. They
simply show their faces, raise some easy laughs, and gets a big fat pay cheque
to their problems. But then, the entire film is rather lazy and
is mainly because of the poor script and direction that anonymous
the film is relatively flat.
A pair of inept bureaucrats (Chase and Akroyd), apply for jobs as spies, but
have proved to be absolutely horrible. However, their incompetence is to be an attribute
hand, as the U.S. government need a pair of dimwits
consumables for use as decoys. The pair said they were useless they are in an immense
important mission in Central Asia, but actually are providing coverage
for a second team of espionage who are trying to infiltrate a base in the Russian nuclear
Russo from the Afghan border.
Instead of genuine laughs, it gives us a series of cameo appearances
crashed and a sprinkling of view very obvious gags. Moments like Chevy
try to deceive his way through an examination, Chevy
claim to have lost all feeling in his hand which has an excuse for a woman tit Grope;
and Chevy and Dan to disguise themselves as foreigners in order to approach a
Russian missile launch site. Each scene is played in the broader
blandest way possible, so that audiences probably only to find that are fun
immature adolescents or adults are very unfussy. When all is said and done,
Spies Like Us is nothing but a weak that they could - given a better script and more
effort of everyone involved - have been enormously
better.
