In the close quarters and brutal fighting of the World War II Pacific Theater, the U.S. Intelligence services desperately seek a fool-proof encryption code, immune to the code breakers of the Japanese. The answer is soon discovered in the ancient language of the Navajo. Enlisted into the Marine Corps are several "Windtalkers" who are deployed to frontline areas in the Pacific, to use their language as an impossible-to-crack secret code. A drawback, however, is that the U.S. military soon puts forth a directive that the Windtalkers must never be captured alive by the enemy, so additional Marines are assigned to make certian that this directive is carried out to the letter.

I thought this was a movie about the code navajo speak. Well, it is not.
While there are a couple of Navajos in the film, the story revolves around Nicolas Cage
win World War II all by himself. This guy is incredible and makes John Wayne
seen as a wimp. Every time the Marines are in trouble, jumps up good old
Nicolas Cage with his Thompson and poof! winning the battle! I wonder how
won the Second World War, without Nicolas Cage? The film has a lot of scenes of combat and more
that is very well done. That alone is worth a watch, but not to expect much from
learn anything about the code navajo speak. You must read about
, because yours is an important part of history, but they are a minor
part in this movie. He gave it a 6, because only the good fight
footage.
If you're looking for a film that will give you the history of the navajo
Codetalkers, this really is not your movie. If you're looking
Shake a war with a pile of gore and where everything seems to exploit massive
Fireballs (as in the Simpsons!), This is your movie.
While the title focuses on navajo Codetalkers, most of the film is actually assumed
with inflated shares of stock characters and scenes.
While there are some efforts to show the formation of the Codetalkers, how
that is actually used is hidden (not codified by the word fire
missions) and some of the scenes are simply ridiculous. The scene where one of the codetalkers
poses as a Japanese soldier taken prisoner
a marina is pretty stupid. I suppose that the official Japanese are approaching this assumption should
soldier from Japan's wild west.
In essence, "Windtalkers" theme is just something to catch the eye
and make this film "different." John Woo really did not want to make a film
on the Navajo Codetalkers. This film is nothing more than an exercise in excess
explosives.
