Lt. John Dunbar is dubbed a hero after he accidentally leads Union troops to a victory during the Civil War. He requests a position on the western frontier, but finds it deserted. He soon finds out he is not alone, but meets a wolf he dubs "Two-socks" and a curious Indian tribe. Dunbar quickly makes friends with the tribe, and discovers a white woman who was raised by the Indians. He gradually earns the respect of these native people, and sheds his white-man's ways.

People who say this film is long and boring, obviously, have never sat across
, oh, "Lawrence of Arabia", "Patton," "Doctor Zhivago," "The Godfather
" ;, "Ran", "Seven Samurai", or even probably "Braveheart. "Thanks God

that not every filmmaker cree that a car must exploit every 10 seconds
so that his film is a success. Kevin Costner is one of those directors who prefers
long format. David Lean, Francis Coppola and
Mel Gibson, to name a few, also worked in this format, and produced

lasting works of art that also packed theatres. There are a lot of options for
people who do not like films that take the time to build character, drama and suspense
, films like "Charlie's Angels: Full Regulator" "Freddy Vs.
Jason "and" Weekend at Bernie. "I do not think any of these films has
has been called" boring ", but surely they are crap cinema.

Sure, it's easy to call "Dancing" politically correct w /
reference to the Indians. But it also treats them as individuals and, better yet, as
fictional characters whose lives are part of a fascinating narrative. I just
examine all complaints about the policy of this film as
total hogwash.

Lastly, the film is beautifully shot, has an unforgettable score, and
is very well written. I've never thought of "Dances" as a Westerner, but a modern

action image / character study that avoids all the cliches of the boring
Western genre. Here is a film that stands for something, it means something,
and deserves at least as much respect as some of the Dreck we underestimated
bear arrived recently.
This is the kind of a movie that never bored, no matter how often you look
. He deserves every award he received. It is touching, it is frankly
timeless and beautiful. I'm not a great friend

cut even one second outside it looks like a horrible crime. The theater
original version was 52 minutes shorter than it sounds too cruel to be truly

" which have not yet fulfilled one of the greatest experiences of cinema
