Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna was a period of two star studded historic
part TV movie based on the book by Peter Kurth, Anastasia: the enigma of Anna Anderson
. It remains more or less historically, the names are changed, etc.
however, sticks to the true story quite well. Omar Sharif and Claire Bloom
do quite well as the Russian royals, Czar Nicholas
and Czarina Alexandra. What stuck in my mind was the very short portraits
by Rex Harrison and Olivia de Havilland. Overall this is a pretty
class production with some fine acting. I was very amazed by the
production values when they first air on NBC in late 1986. Also starring
was fine German actor Jan Niklas previously
a star of NBC in other Russian epic "Peter the Great."
I felt that part 2 omitted some important details of Anna Anderson
trip to americas. It is also important to know that in 1986
less is known about the story of Anna Anderson. Back then it was still not known whether
its claim to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia
was genuine. In late 1990 was the best known and Anna Anderson is now
the reputation of being a fraud.
Too bad the networks are not doing well done for TV films like
more.
I would not be so sure accept DNA testing as irrefutable proof
against Anna Anderson. First, Peter Kurth read the book on which this
se basa the film. Anna Anderson knew things that only true Grand Duchess Anastasia
could have known (Anna
forensic evidence in favor of one side). Second, compare the photos of Anastasia and Anna Anderson
. Anyone can see that they are one and the same person. Thirdly,
Peter Kurth's visit Website (URL) where you can read
detailed information about DNA testing, as well as why Franziska Schanzkowska
and Anna Anderson are not the same person (scroll down to the link,
"ANNA-VINCENT note on Franziska SCHANZKOWSKA"). Even the Schanzkowska
relatives believed that her sister, Anna Anderson
were not the same person.
far as I am concerned always believe that HIH Anastasia Romanova and Nicolevna
Anna Anderson were the same person, I will never be shaken
the contrary.
