After losing their payload the ramshackle, sinking, ocean-going salvage tug "Sea Star" takes refuge in the eye of a typhoon in an attempt to make repairs. Whilst trying to find help the tug, captained by Robert Everton ('Donald Sutherland' (qv)), discovers a Russian science vessel adrift in the eye. The crew believes their troubles are over and they are set for life when the captain informs them of the value of salvaging this apparent ghost-ship. However, the navigator Kit Foster ('Jamie Lee Curtis' (qv)) and the chief engineer Steve Baker ('William Baldwin' (qv)) are not convinced that it will be that easy. Once power is restored to the ship strange things start to happen and the crew mysteriously disappear one by one. It isn't until the discovery of the last remaining Russian crew member, the chief science officer Nadia Vinogradiya ('Joanna Pacula' (qv)), that the crew realise the enemy ranged against them isn't the Russians but something far more malevolent...

Laughable, very bad script and acted on a small effort
crew boarding what appears to be a "dead" huge ship that Russian science
has been taken over by an alien life form in the form of electricity
Today. The small crew of the other ships quickly learns that
boarding the ship was a bad idea, and before they start, I know that this
be surprised ... DIE. Well, to begin the film is very
derived from other movies, especially foreigners with the same premise
a small research group of a large "foreign" vessel and ultimately led
by a strong female protagonist. There are many other
obvious similarities, but time and a total lack of willingness to rehash that drivel
must excuse me. I could live with less than an original story if there was some improvement
dialogue and some characters who could give a hoot, but
Virus has none of that. Jamie Lee Curtis makes a being repaired at best jobs
and gives the film better performance, but that is not saying anything
as virtually everyone else is just horrible. This is a surprise when one sees
Donald Sutherland name attached to this project. I've never seen
give a performance as bad as it does in the Virus. Va.
for every cliché and stereotype of an old sea captain keeps a wooden
leg and a parrot on your shoulder. The accent that I found unbearable uses.
The rest of the crew has a group of guys who do not care about
in the slightest. None of the kids can act. This applies mainly to men
"lead" Wiulliam Baldwin who seems to be lost at sea
plays an actor. The script aid actors to be inadequate in half the time
simply does not make sense and sometimes start to show promise and ends abruptly

The film is so ridiculous. What about the captain and why
was almost going to shoot himself in the beginning of the picture?
What's it all about? It was never brought back. What does it mean to have the Virus
going through this? It is the personification of a sense of entertainment with
hardly requires thinking. The special effects are quite good too.
But for me the film was a great big let-down. Not that I was waiting
something big, but I was expecting something suspenseful.
I was laughing and turning his head more times in this time I was in
the edge of my seat - except when I was ready to turn the film off!
This film will probably not go down in history as one of the biggest. This
probably not even be remembered a couple of years from now. But it is a good
horror / thriller movie with some decent effects. It has been a while since I really
jumped more than three times in the chair. Ok, tricks for fazer him jump is a common, but obviously it worked.
Apart from the end (which is very strange) this is a good movie.
The strange thing is that although just after Kit Foster and her boyfriend
ejected from the ship the storm disappears. Hmm ...
Of course you can not compare this with any of the milestones as
Alien movies, but it is money well spent, and two hours
dead time.
