(horror, thriller)
Valentine's Day 1988: At the school dance, geeky Jeremy Melton bravely faces one rejection after the other when asking four popular girls to dance with him. A fifth girl, plump and insecure, agrees, but they end up making out under the bleachers. When a group of school bullies catches them, the girl claims that Jeremy attacked her. This causes them to strip off his clothes and beat him up in front of the entire school. Flash forward to 2001. We meet the five girls who were in that school gym: Kate (Marley Shelton), Paige (Denise Richards), Shelly (Katherine Heigl), Lily (Jessica Cauffiel) and the formerly plump Dorothy (Jessica Capshaw). They are all in their 20's now and trying to sort out their love lives, which is appropriate, since Valentine's Day is coming up. After a disastrous date with a loser, one of the girls, a pre-med student, is murdered by a Cherub-mask wearing killer who sent her a death threat in the form of a Valentine card prior to the attack. After the four remaining girls are reunited at her funeral, they all start receiving threatening cards and messages. At first they don't know who would want to hurt them, but eventually they figure that maybe Jeremy is responsible. Police records show that Jeremy has completely disappeared, so no one knows what he looks like. Could the formerly nerdish Jeremy have had plastic surgery and turned into one of the girls' handsome boyfriends? Who ever it is, the lone survivor has to put a stop to this spurned individual's murder spree before she, too, becomes a valentine to die for.

rating:4.10
A group of models caliber San Francisco women who
have been friends since elementary school suddenly threatened and attacked by sending
somebody strange Valentine's Day cards. That is the murderer
and why is the murderer of them?
My rating is often change in subsequent viewings of a film - sometimes
slightly up, sometimes slightly downwards. However, I can not recall another film where
my rating has changed as dramatically as it has done for
Valentine. When first veía that from its cinema exhibition
I thought it was horrible enough - I gave it a 4 each 10 the equivalent
an "F" letter grade. Seeing that for the second time last night, I can not remember what the
omprobar I do not like him. I can only assume that
perhaps I was really bad in the mood to see him, or maybe I just
did not get it. Anyway, I loved this moment, giving it a 9 out of
10, or an "A".
It might sound ridiculous to say I have not had a movie like this, but
there is something to achieve. Valentine's Day is almost a comedy / horror.
director Jamie Blanks, who is also responsible for 1998 of
Urban Legend has it that takes the stereotyped formula of terror teenager who became
so popular in the late 1990 in the wake of Scream (1996 ) And pushes more
elements of a notch, Valentin intentionally affected / campy
almost to the point of absurdity (absurd, which is a positive development
stylistic term). Apart from that, he gives us a film imbued with humorous
comment on romantic relationships. Humor is unusual in that
has the same tone as the overly campy teen horror
aspects. Most of the situations in the film, and the modus operandi of the villain
, humorous or otherwise, are linked to the Valentine's Day theme.
Many viewers likely subtract points the film its various
arraigada cliché but plausible hypothesis of evolution and plot. However,
in light of the foregoing, the film is intentionally cliches,
implausible and ridiculous. It is as if whites are trying (and mostly making)
to transcend the typical teen slasher of taunts and spoofing
conventions of the genre, while also satirizing eros. That is
attraction to the irony of basing a horror film in the Valentine's Day.
is an incongruity that is skillfully woven throughout the film, and
which is itself at the centre of the slasher genre, so it is
primary forage for Valentine's extravagant lampooning. Scream had a similar aim
with its horror material, but the twist is that
film is "self-conscious." Valentine's Day is not intentionally self-conscious,
viewer has to rely on contextual clues of satire. For some people think I'm
"reading too much" in the film is that it is worth noting that whites
said in interviews that he "simply did not want to do another Slasher
after Urban Legend "and producer Dylan Sellers said he wanted fazer something" more adult ". Other
viewers may dislike the fact that Valentine's Day differs both
putative its source material, the novel of the same name
Tom Savage. The novel characters, and the establishment of the plot are very different
the film. Sellers said, "While it is a good book,
I do not think it is the right story for a movie." So instead of the novel, which
hair and is much more serious tone, was used as a launching pad, a reason to create
variations on a horror / thriller centred history
Day Valentine's Day. While these facts does not help purists
familiar with the book as the film is useful to understand why the film has its
divergent plot and attitude. It's probably better to see in the film
as an independent entity with a similar topic.
virgins' direction is visually impeccable. Valentine's Day has a lush
see everything, with complex, deep colors, interesting games, and good
on stage. It is admirable blank to maintain its villain and scenes of attack
not too dark, with the action clearly. He also directs his actors
with aplomb, catalyzing often slyly humorous performances.
David Boreanaz, as Adam Carr, is involved in many of the more amusing moments.
Although Valentine's Day is not a masterpiece, is a very good
horror / thriller film that seems very prone to misconceptions. If
expected something that looks more tongue in cheek can find
you appreciate that much more.
If I had paid money to see this film, I was really angry with myself
. The film is not so bad if they see it for free.
It is your typical horror movie with a guy running around in a mask. There are a few different
characteristics that I will not mention, but honestly the film does not make much
that has not been shown before. The only good person in the film is
Denise Richards and she is not even that special person.
