In the near future, earth's fossil resources are about to be used up. In an attempt to save the human race, scientists have begun building a gate, through which faster than light travel will be possible - but only if there is a gate at the destination to receive the travelers. The Robinson Family has been chosen to travel to Alpha Prime - the only other inhabitable planet known - at normal speed, ten years, cryogenically frozen. But Dr. Smith, a sinister man, sabotages their spaceship, Jupiter 2, but is also betrayed by his people. So, he has to work together with the Robinsons in order to survive himself. When Jupiter 2 is falling into the sun, the only chance to survive is to activate the hyperdrive - without a gate at the other end. Soon, the Robinsons are someplace really unknown, where they meet unfriendly silicon-based space spiders, take in a little ape-like creature and name new star systems after Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig. They have to reach Alpha Prime in order to build the second gate, or earth's only hope is gone.

Dr. John Robinson (William Hurt) is taking his family into deep space
to find a life-supporting planet of the human race. Things on Earth
are deteriorating, to say the least. We agree with him are his wife
scientist Maureen (Mimi Rogers), his brilliant daughter, Judy
(Heather Graham) and her equally intelligent children and Will Penny.
They need a good pilot, Dr. Robinson BSA HotSHOT aviator Mark West (Matt LaBlanc
) to fly their spaceship. Evil Dr. Smith (Gary Oldman)
trying to sabotage the boat, but ends up being trapped on board. Amid the chaos
, the ship goes off and then gets lost. Among the fight
spider-like creatures and their own robot murderer, Robinsons
still hope to reach their destination. ? This film begins with
an explosion and ends with a Whimper. The problem? Well, this is not the
excellent cast. Hurt, Rogers and Oldman are wonderful
in their respective roles, while Graham and LaBlanc, delighting the audience with
his wit and charm as the couple that the film's romantic
elements. All other members of the cast are also very fine. The production
looks nice, too, with great costumes, sets and special effects. Tan,
leaving the uneven script. It begins well, with a quick glance at the
Robinsons' search and plot of Dr. Smith. There are even some
broad as it is released to Maureen and John Mark, as
are sparring. "If you are Hosingen below the deck with
testosterone ... "I was laughing heart. However, everything just fizzles
somewhere in the middle and ends up being totally absurd, a plot
without a cause. What a shame. Those of us who loved the sixties
television series deserved better. If you are partial to any of the
cast, with Graham Hurt Oldman to make this time
film someday. They are the reason to see this movie, because they are a joy to see
, even in a movie as lame as this one.
This film has all the special effects that money can buy, but then it has
nothing more to add. He was decent, but not really seem like
all gave their best effort. Not to mention that Gary Oldman
had some terrible dialogue. In general, a large amount of money being spent on something that needed
more adrenaline. 2 / 4
