Meet Garfield. One of life's greatest answers to the fattest cat in the world. All he does all day long is sleep, watch TV and eat lasagna. But things change for the fat cat when his faithful owner, Jon Arbuckle (Brecken Meyer) brings home a new rival for Garfield - a dog named Odie. Garfield opposes his new puppy rival until Odie runs away and is picked up by a nasty dog trainer, Happy Chapman. Every year I've been a faithful reader of comics Garfield,
I never had the impression that it is simply meant for children. By contrast, most
dry humor and charismatic Garfield raises are difficult to 'get'
for young children. And yet the film completely
targets for a young audience. I have no problem with a movie is for children, but this
is exaggerated and hardly accessible to adult viewers. The film lacks
fully all the elements that make comics so entertaining. Garfield
the smart and sarcastic comments, Jon's womanizing
clumsy techniques… All this has been replaced with an unhealthy dose of
feel good messages and lame jokes. The engineering team Garfield
not to appeal and the other pets are real bad choice. The plot is standard
sentiment, with Garfield save his new housemate of a puppy
astute, to pursue fame TV host. Breckin Meyer (Jon Arbuckle) and
Jennifer Love Hewitt (Liz yummy as the veterinarian) on foot without
nothing to do and Bill Murray as the voice of Garfield is a kind of work he wants dire
get rid of as soon as possible. The first (long-awaited?) Cinema
adventure of the world's favorite cat appears to be a quickly produced
Shake and shortly before being forgotten. Too bad, because it is
left behind with the feeling that something could have done better with this
.
After participating in an effort to find a good review - much harder than I ever imagined it would be
- and find the movie listed at the bottom of the canyon
, I felt almost obliged to go to see this
opening day - either to prove the critics wrong, or to obtain
fodder for a scathing letter to Jim Davis. I ended up with none.
The problem, of course, is what some critics have said: Garfield
is old and busted. A walk through the theatre reveals the new hotness: Harry Potter
. The film is, alas, 10 years late. Just seeing the long list
Garfield TV special, most of whom are 1982-1992, and
"Garfield and Friends" began in 1988. It was delayed, I read, because
Jim Davis cree that technology was not there. It will be called
animation regularly. Garfield is a 2-D medium, whether in the home page or animated cartoons
CELS. But, I suppose, because nobody else makes, 2004
could not have a 2-D Garfield.
The problem is not with Garfield, although some of the characteristics
displayed are those not associated with the cat. The problem is with the cast
support that view, usually not as
their animated counterparts. That made hatred wiener dog with talent? Why is Nermal
Siameses? Should not Arlene be much nicer to Garfield? The staging,
in bright colors, can not decide whether it is in the real world or in a comic
real life. Breckin "Inside Schwartz" Meyer is not only the
best suited to Jon. While I can accept the entire high-school crush
Jon and Liz itself (something that is definitely not in the comic strip
), the reward could have been better if they had not kissed after the dog show
.
The plot arc is not necessarily departed from the totality of Garfield. In conformity
more in the mid-1980, when in fact the banda had a week-long
more plots. In a series, for example, hatred DID leave home, and Garfield
DID follow, and ended
fleeing the circus together. The comments that the banda has not fallen off base.
It is moments like this remind me that when I got my sense of humor. This
came from the politically neutral wit and social commentary in the afternoon
1980 - Garfield (both press and television), Calvin and Hobbes,
even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That's why I can not disagree with
this line of the Chicago Tribune: "He has been declawed; swiping
Monty Python humor and meanness of his early years have been surgically removed by a
PG audience, and with it, most of his appeal. "And that hurts
.
Today, Garfield is trapped in one day-only three-panel joint operating
gags that still make me laugh, but do not reflect the same attitude
last year. However, still prefer to openly
ultra-liberal political commentary found in strips like "Boondocks" or some other
.
He had a long film been released around 1994, done by the same
team that made "Garfield and Friends," with Lorenzo Music
doing the voice Perhaps it would have been wonderful. Live action not
example the nature and output of 25 years of what we have known
too. The animated half-hour shows of the 1980's
both work better than might have been able to earn more money simply by
scrapping of the film and putting on DVD. To hear "Garfield and Friends:
The Complete First Season" is coming out, a television program that captured the essence of

networks would want "A Garfield Christmas" and some of its other offerings
back in the air. I still love the character. The
film does not deserve to be ranked, is where critics.
At the same time, however, it reminds you of how good it could have been.
7 / 10, because I can not bring myself to demolish a character who
still makes me laugh, but his best work was when I was young enough
to be in the audience aim.
