Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield are two hitmen on the hunt for a briefcase whose contents were stolen from their boss, Marsellus Wallace. They run into a few unexpected detours along the road. Marsellus is out of town, and he's gotten Vincent to take care of his wife, Mia. That is, take her out for a night on the town. Things go smoothly until one of them makes a huge error. Butch Coolidge is a boxer who's been approached by Marsellus and been told to throw his latest fight. When Butch ends up killing the other boxer, he must escape Marsellus. I just finished screening the film for the first time after they are put off
for a number of years because of what appeared equivocating
evaluations of some of my friends. In retrospect, however, it seems to me that while
the movie should have definitely bowled them over, in general
not sure exactly what to do with it or how to articulate what it is a
Confusing mixture of feelings. However, I am so impressed that I feel compelled to add
some specific observations to the many fine reviews already in this
database.
Firstly, this movie hits you with an impact somewhere in between, for example,
Apocalypse Now and A Clockwork Orange, and for some people may be so disturbing
(without however, in this regard, I am happy to report I do not think it
increased the level of the natural wealth Born Killers). Full of graphically violent
action and language, Pulp Fiction is not a picture for everyone -
I definitely do not recommend it to my parents, born in the 1930s (even for me a fairly
"hip" relative of the same generation who, at age 66, still teaches
high school sex education and likes to talk about things like
sunbathe naked, among other potentially sensitive issues).
Regardless of audience sensibilities, however, the film made,
support
of superb acting in each role, to manage the creation of a world full of the most
sleazy fascinating characters, possibly ever to appear on screen. Since
Travolta's sharp-almost child-like curiosity about the world
Jackson's sincere and thoughtful and philosophical rumination
Willis's deep devotion
to the memory of his father, I believe that this fascination lies not only
in the characters' personalities as they are portrayed, but for the manner in which
tantalize the viewer to consider the possibility that these
people could really exist. As a lawyer a few years of experience in dealing with all kinds of people
which was specially prepared for this aspect of the film
.
hence, and in response to some other comments from reviewers, I think this film
character is driven by plot rather than driven. Instead of a story populated
weakly developed characters basically used primarily as a mere device
to move along the plot, like that too often the case in movies
(
especially in these days), the undeniable strong, intelligent and unpredictable plot lines in
Pulp Fiction actually are essentially interest and
secondary importance,
serving primarily as vehicles so that you're worried about the fate of
characters you can not help worrying about truth despite the low
attributes that

another reviewer noted, when the film ends, you're really disappointed,
left craving for more of these madmen and explosives
their lives.
Finally, and as strange as it may seem, this movie reminds me of another
Monumentally Great Movies that one never normally associate with him
in any way in a million years - Casablanca. As in the movie he made in his way back
1942, and as another reviewer has suggested, perhaps his special appeal -
its unusually high degree of emotional impact - lies in its character
successful simultaneous implementation of various genres in a single
film - drama, action, dark humor - with the whole thing linked together by
essentially flawless execution in every department. And while Casablanca
certainly is undoubtedly much higher and healthy mind, like the movie older
Pulp Fiction is not without a strong theme of redemption, even if < br>
is not as a force, taking into account all later film and sleaze
violence.
In sum, when people say that this is probably the best film of 1990,
is easy to see why. Essentially a movie really excellent, this is a
must see for anyone who considers themselves a film fan and can handle
graphic theme.
(by the way, if you want a shade below
much more overtly humorous and less serious with an image not entirely dissimilar-see
and feel, not another lost decade in 1990 Travolta image, Shorty GTE).
That is what this movie is 1994, a tour de force of cinematic expression
Quentin Tarantino. A film with which Tarantino staked his claim to the title
a true Hollywood Wunderkind, auteur, the young genius, all wing
Orson Welles. Pretty heady stuff.
Why media? First, with a snappy script with witty if not brain
give and take of dialogue, written primarily by Tarantino himself. Then, by
populate the cast with an intriguing hand collected
range of actors to deliver well-written snappy lines. This film oozes
inspired casting of actors who played well against type, or at least became nervous
offbeat and the ways in which we had not known so far. So
through the editing process, to tell the story in a maximum
nonlinear way, out of time, reducing the film to a series of apparent non-sequential
disjointed vignettes, each with bullet

lastly, the head of everything with a banda sonora snazzy. This is how.
Add all that together and you get Pulp Fiction.
The film received its share of success, and deservedly. But that
said, while seen by most as a good movie, Pulp Fiction is not considered
another as Citizen Kane and Pulp Fiction is not wagered on the
pantheon of the greatest of the great movies Hollywood of all time.
These are for a reason. As a good achievement as a film Pulp Fiction
namely, the fact is that, like a movie that plows lawn just way too thick
for convenience. The excess at the top of blood, guts and brains-blown violence.
pipes rough language. Matter living in the lower abdomen
of life that goes far beyond seed or unseemly. And it is presented to all
a very graphic. Some people really like it that way. Hey, I understand
. That's what Tarantino wanted too, right?
But the simple fact is that such fare is not for everyone. Period. In this way, their own
intentional and unforgiving thick what nature is self-select out
the greatness of the category. To achieve greater greatness of the great
has to be viewed that way in all areas, among all attendees.
Pulp Fiction, Tarantino's design is not intended to appeal to
worldwide. Whither
And Tarantino? That is the real issue. His career did not begin with
Pulp Fiction, bringing the auspicious beginning that
made a couple of years ago with Reservoir Dogs (1992). Pulp Fiction
And of course it was certainly not his last film. The Kill Bills, Vol.
I and Vol. II, 2003 and 2004, respectively, were noteworthy and
ambitious projects. And Jackie Brown (1997) made his mark.
But let's be honest here. When it comes to Tarantino is increasingly
as well as Pulp Fiction is as good as gets. And he has not progressed much beyond
stop at the tosquedad in any appreciable way. In fact, he is still
sincerely that tilling the soil. And getting fewer and fewer outside
also, if Grindhouse (2007) is any measure (and most will say it is a measure
). Of course, his age has the potential of many more movies
shouting at him to leave, but unless it develops in some new directions
, unless he extends to some new and different
ways as a storyteller, Pulp Fiction may end up being his magnum opus.
Which is not a terrible thing. Pulp Fiction is a remarkable film. But, hey,
We thought that there was more.
