An Army sergeant (Samual Jackson) takes six of his special troops on a training mission into the rain-soaked Colombian jungles and only two come out alive. When the rescue mission arrives, they see one soldier (Brian Van Holt) killing another and carrying a wounded comrade (Giovanni Ribisi). As the interrogation begins, the soldier refuses to talk to anyone other than another Ranger. The investigating officer (Connie Nielsen) protests, but her commanding officer (Timothy Daly) nonetheless brings in a former Ranger and current DEA agent (John Travolta) to help. The agent is currently on suspension from DEA for allegedly accepting a bribe. From this point on, the plot continues to twist and turn and offers numerous surprises that keeps the story interesting.

Despite all the horrible reviews written "Basic," I have decided to give it a chance
as a lease because the director John McTiernan has done several of my favorite movies
. Admittedly, I have not seen a good post its "
Thomas Crown Affair" (a remake), but I expected "core" work on some nice
level.
It starts pretty well. John Travolta and Connie Nielsen is investigating an incident
criminal in an army base, and two of his witnesses are
little. Their stories go back and forth, over time a painting
idea of what "really" happened. It's all made before, I suppose, but
is fun to watch.
Unfortunately, the film derails afternoon in the picture. After what seems
perfectly well that ends (I will not elaborate, but you'll see), the film ends
continues. Suddenly what "really" happened was wrong, this is what
"really" happened, or did it? The conclusion of the film is an absurd
investment (almost) all the premise of the film. I expected an average of
characters to reveal to be a foreigner or a vampire or some other
Tales from the Crypt / Twilight Zone absurd ending.
Like "The Recruit", the screenplay does not know when to quit with all
reverse. Thanks to the masterpiece of cinema, the "usual suspects", now each
ladysouljah mystery must have "the big surprise." And you can do that once, perhaps twice
in a history. But we can not press "reset button" five or six times
! If I spend 90 minutes watching a movie, I have come to know that at least part of that history
"really happened." You can not wash away with everything "that
man was lying. "No wonder Entertainment Weekly entitled its review
" Trashomon. "
P.S. If you watch the film on DVD, is really fun
extra segment with the screenwriter. In addition to reading his own writing in camera,
explains how incredible arrogance with his original story and characters were
. We therefore pompous is hilarious!
Although I had some doubts about this movie before its sights,
I definitely wanted to give it a try. There were several reasons for
that. One of those reasons is because Samuel L. Jackson
plays an important role in it. That man on his own is already sufficient reason for
watch a movie, but I also knew that it was directed by John McTiernan, who also made
"The Hunt for Red October", "The Warrior 13" and "
Die Hard: With A Vengeance." Three films I've seen and very much desired
. The only thing they do not really for me was "
The Thomas Crown Affair", but with an average of three out of four, I could only hope
the best with this movie.
"Basic" begins with showing us how army sergeant West has six of its
special troops in a training mission in the Colombian jungle,
that only two return life. When the rescue mission arrives,
see a killing another soldier and a comrade wounded.
As soon as they are back at the base, the interrogation of Dunbar - one of the two survivors
- begins. But he refuses to talk to anyone else
another Ranger who does not know yet. That is where the former Ranger and current
DEA agent comes in Hardy is able to obtain a confession
Dunbar, but as he digs deeper, only to find themselves increasingly demonstrate contradictions and
illegal practices ...
This is one of those films that you have to see if you can keep your mind
it from start to finish.
If you think you should take a break at an intermediate point, not even begin
because seeing the whole story is so confusing and so many plot twists
make it almost impossible to see it, unless it
be kept focused. But I do not think this means that this movie is no good
. It is especially thanks to the many twists that I was watching, because
interrogation scenes and action scenes' on the basis
not always do it for me. What I liked about this movie was
Samuel L. Jackson 's performance. It was really enjoyable as the tough sergeant
West. You could see that men enjoy playing this role.
John Travolta is not bad either, but I have seen play better
functions.
In general this is not a bad movie. Thanks to the mysterious history and
many twists it is difficult to track, but when you are able to do so, you'll have fun watching
. However, not everything about this movie was
that strong and that's why I give this movie a 6.5/10.
This is not the best film in the genre, but it could have been much worse than this.
