This film is a real disappointment, especially if you enjoy the most
the past performances of Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg. Both players
have built a fine body of work, and Robert Duvall is one of the best
actors working today. However, the night we fell short in many areas
I had to compensate for the love fest otherwise

You can blame the script because the dialogue was weak in points, and
uninspired throughout. Phoenix character, who is the son and brother
to the police in New York, has chosen a different path. However,
very unfortunate circumstances lead to its immediate entry into force of police,
as a parole officer, where he instantly becomes the de facto head of the Narcotics Division
. Before that, however, to be placed in protective custody
, but is allowed to return to his club, or an apartment
friends of his mother, and even walk the streets if he sees fit.
Duvalls character is always either mad at a child or the other, and
often makes boneheaded decisions and statements that keep sending
Phoenix further along a downward spiral of despair and self < br> aversion. Wahlberg has a role that is both developed and under
boring.
You can blame the leadership, especially over the last 30 minutes of the film
. What do you start as a single story with a convincing amount of
tension slowly crumbles, and the final is laughable.
The ending is so anti-climatic that also becomes a comedian. As Phoenix and
monitoring team of the film's arch nemesis through a field of sugar cane, which
call off the search, a withdrawal of the orders and down the field on fire. The team hopes
the smoke and flames to eliminate the bad, when Phoenix
goes back on the field. Impervious to the heat and smoke, you hear a whisper and falls
our villain with a single gunshot to the blind heart. The ruling
bad friend "Bobby" (the character of Phoenix) and dies. But wait,
is no more! Phoenix drastically (in fact pun intended)
exits through the smoke to find all the other policemen already well away from the
and on the ground surrounding the venerable master-mind of the handcuffed movie
(no need to get too much into detail, rather than ruin
silliness and humor of the moment).
The film has merits, as I said. This is a period piece and not make
the nightlife of 1988 to justice. The violence is sandy and there is a lot of tension
accumulated as the story develops. However, these
can not overcome the numerous falls short and the agony that one must endure.
He was grateful to roll the credits at the end.
The night I saw that we have received a standing ovation in the European
critical selection and premiere in Cannes. Well, I can say at the
preview screening I saw some time in the U.S., the audience applauded enthusiastically and

in a way that does not usually see more. Not only is cool, but
absorbed. He reminds me of The Godfather not only the movie, but the way
the audience enjoyed it. Only reason you do not give it a 10 is not
give most of the films at 10 unless they are like the browser or Vetigo.
Once again I do not want to give away too much about the movie because I hate how
now everybody knows everything about the plot of a movie before it opens.
Say it is a crime and a film of family drama.
A socially conscious melodrama and a police story. And he has a couple of large
action scenes. The principle was notch by Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg
(better in The Departed), Robert Duvall (always good) and
Eva Mendes in particular that I have never seen this before. 9 / 10
