Hollywood does not seem to get enough of women killed English writers.
Hot on the heels of Miss Potter, and before the movies on the Bronte,
we have this romantic confection about Jane Austen from the young
Fling with Irish lawyer Tom Lefroy.

There has already been criticized by howls of outrage that Janeites
the film is historically inaccurate. It is true that English teachers will
an adjustment in some elements of the story: at best speculative and unsubstantiated
, at worst, frankly wrong. The filmmakers
It is true that they do not have a large amount of historical material to work from.
The true background of the story appears in a couple of
letters written by Jane Austen to her sister Cassandra, and an admission by Tom Lefroy in old age
who was once in ' boy love "with the
writer. The slightly unstable platform, the filmmakers have constructed a
story of repressed passion and defiance of social mores
which is a work of fiction worthy of a novel in its own right.

This is not very important. Nobody in their right mind that
never accept the version of events presented by Hollywood biopic of historical
as gospel. The one that viewers will be taken in the history
seen here will be those who are too lazy, too uninterested or too credulous
to do the minimum necessary investigation to determine the real facts
, and to Whatever you think these people? This film can be largely
wrong, but what really matters is whether you are working on their own terms,
qua movie.

Unfortunately, it does not, or at least not completely.
The main reason for this is the underlying premise. It was assumed that Jane and Tom
case of the young Jane Austen would never have written his six
great novels, and in particular (perhaps because it is the best known
to the public) Pride and Prejudice. We see Jane angrily
the destruction of a minor story criticized by Tom, and later, in the throes of love,
strikes out the first draft of P & P (in a single night, which shows a
impressive speed change). It is clear that, as Tom says,
Experience is vital. " The same idea

clunkingly literally - that an artist must experience
emotions in order to write about them successfully - underscored
Shakespeare in love, but rather are handled with a lighter < br> touch. Here we are asked to believe that Pride and Prejudice is not a
distillation of all the experiences of Jane Austen's young
enlivened by a vivid imagination, a keen sense of humor and a portion of literary genius
But the next best thing to a true story.
The reasons for this approach are obvious: the cinema can dramatize Johnny Cash
learning the guitar, or Picasso experimenting with painting, but the spectacle of a writer
seated at a table and dreaming scribbles palls very quickly.

The irony of a film that takes such liberties with the facts wild
rely on this trite old idea, no doubt, has been evident for
Jane Austen, whose mastery of irony is Rather emphasized unsubtly
completely. In addition, it is intellectually dishonest, lacking the ability to create a
Mr Darcy, the filmmakers borrow freely from Jane Austen
of the characterization in the creation of Tom and, therefore, suggest that cheekily
he was the one who lacks the imagination to make that person
up.

These reservations aside, the movie has nothing to do?
Yes. The screenplay has some clever moments and at least makes a decent stab
realistic in the 18th century dialogue. Ireland is a surprisingly effective
and beautiful substitute for Hampshire, and the palette of autumn
-laundering is a dark green and gray properly. Anne Hathaway is an attractive
skittish and impetuous Jane, and she has an excellent
chemistry with James McAvoy, whose performance as Tom,
alternately mercurial and obsessive, is well up to his usual high standard.
Reliable support comes from James Cromwell, Julie Walters, the late
great Ian Richardson and Maggie Smith, who essentially reprises his character
of Gosford Park. The problem is that the lovers of behavior
never really convinces us that this relationship is the foundation of
after Jane Austen's literary success, and ultimately becomes a
series of implausible endings, The number of giving and Hot Fuzz
The Return of the King a deadline for their money. The young Jane Austen is not a
horrible movie, but not make the grade as a Regency Brief Encounter.
A few times you are not going to a movie with high expectations and ends up taking
meet them, but Becoming Jane is an exception in this case.
I was charmed by Anne Hathaway's turn in Brokeback Mountain and The Devil Wears Prada
and could not really understand the outcry resulting in his
be cast as Jane Austen and after seeing the movie I know
that for sure Anne Hathaway is the right person for the role.

hot on the heels of 2005's Pride and Prejudice this movie offers a look
early in a spirit of Jane Austen and her encounter with a
man who could have formed the Based on one of his most famous literary characters
Mr Darcy.

I have to say this movie is undoubtedly one of the best period
films I have ever seen. It is not only visually impressive, but the
performances are all superb.

Maggie Smith as a shrewd delicious, from the aunt.

excellent Julie Walters as a mother who would give anything to call
in a sense his daughter (Jane Austen that is).

Anna Maxwell Martin is also very good as the sister and confidante of Jane Austen
.

The director Julian Jarrold has done a wonderful job of making a
incredible movie that will appeal to all generations.

And finally, the two are very charming leads
the heart of the film: Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy. In a word both are AWESOME.
James, but has little screen time then Anne makes you understand
mere conceit and arrogance of Tom Lefroy, his live free
attitude in life to its transformation as a man who begins to care for Jane
Austen. His chemistry with Anne Hathaway is sizzling and
a very important factor in maintaining the film's momentum.

And at the last to first lady Anne Hathaway. The lady is a marvel as
Jane Austen, her determination and spark is clearly captured by Anne in
what can be called a race very definition of performance. Not only does
one feels the pain of Jane, but not a wonder in what is
together and makes their writing through his hitch in life.It is Anne Hathaway
spirit of the picture of literary icon
which is the essence of the film.

of his determination to write and break his heart to his Feisty
attitude to succeed as a writer is only one of trapping the young actress
. One can not really find the exact words to describe the
the performance of the actress as Jane Austen, if it is simply great.

This film has the ingredients to become the period drama of the year.
A good job of the players and the entire crew of the film
to give us a vision of what could have been very important years in youth
authors of life.

A delight to see in all directions 8 / 10
