In the Antarctic, after an expedition with Dr. Davis McClaren (Bruce Greenwood), the sled dog trainer Jerry Shepherd (Paul Walker) has to leave the polar base with his colleagues due to the proximity of a heavy snow storm. He ties his dogs to be rescued after, but the mission is called-off and the dogs are left alone at their own fortune. For six months, Jerry tries to find a sponsor for a rescue mission while his dogs fight for survival.

Beautifully orchestrated spin off the film of Antarctica that was held in 1983. I thought the picture was great and the field that shows the locations is very similar to the Antarctic.
What made the film very special for me was the fact that over wintered in Antarctica in 1958 and was there when the Japanese arrived at the Showa Base and found the 2 dogs that had survived the past 12 months. Incredible and very moving story. There is a monument to the dog team in the form of statues at the base of the Tokyo Tower to honor them. I was fortunate to see him in 1992.
Down eight dogs were so well trained and form a relationship with them immediately. The film can be seen and enjoyed by all ages. A must have for my film.
