I was very excited about the new (pun intended) synopsis of the film and
hope to see you. The first shots
introduce some of the characters, as well as the main place where the stories take place;
allotments gardening. The film looks fantastic. Colorful yet simple
. Magic still authentic. Unfortunately, only takes a few minutes
find out where the film is going. This figure is rapidly
be a manipulative, silly story that illustrates a lot of people weary
in their forms faced by "friendly casualties" and that the refugees were
have a happy ending when the people weary the reality of his mistake
ways and accept these people.
The characters, particularly the bias, are very
"comic-booky" in nature. The story focuses mainly on two refugee families
. One of them is headed by a single mother played atrociously by
Diveen Henry. I am saddened to say that any emotion that might have
felt toward their struggles were turned off by what was memorably bad
act.
The other story is much more interesting and focuses on the father and his two sons
. All are marked by their trip to this country by
form of containers, where the wife and mother died, but it is the husband
that suffers most. Benedict Wong gives an account of an amazing performance
here. First, their emotions are very thin, but as the story develops
, which subtly makes us aware of the struggle of his inner-
character.
Unfortunately, the rest of the film is so extremely boring.
There were so many possibilities with this movie. There are several
characters to keep track of, many of which may have potential, but none of the
being done. Worse yet, despite this film is not very
Hollywoodian, some of the main plot threads are resolved in a cheap
Hollywood b-grade way. Example: A Character
likes the character of Character BB rejects his advances
no problem! We're going to have a C declare his love for a character
so that we can all have a happy ending. Yawn.
I liked the plot thread of the Asian family. That was well done
. Unfortunately, the entire allocation of business,
communal aspect of it, the dynamic participation of a large cast are all operated under.
What you have left is a film that has very little value.
I saw a preview of this and absolutely loved it. It's very funny (
the scene where the cranky old try the ring tones, for example, is a classic
) and touching. I loved the fact that there had been none of the usual
faces that you see on Britcoms. I did not recognize anyone in it, apart from
Benny Wong - who was in this incredible - and very funny girl
Hot Fuzz, which is so funny in this. I love the fact that
maintains about ten different stories along tread. Also, all the things
loved gardening. This reminds me of The Secret Garden and gave the
around a little poetry and beauty that just do not see in the movies
about the working class people normally.
