young filmmaker Danny Boyle of the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh's novel
incredible, on a banda of social misfits who just happened to
Sleazy be addicted to heroin, is the film that hooked me to
independent flicks. One evening on Friday night I was cruising through the
movie channels on satellite and I stumbled to a channel called
IFC (Independent Film Channel). It produced the film "Trainspotting".
I looked and immediately fell in love with her. I never actually saw something
very similar, is sleek, modern, depressing, dark and disturbing
all at once. After that I was hooked on the IFC channel
, and if not to crush the UK hit 'Trainspotting', I
may never have seen an independent film.
After surprising novel closely, 'Trainspotting'
revolves around a banda friends. Most are addicted to heroin, one is an alcoholic
psycho and the other is actually a good boy. These friends play football
together and hang out all the time. They are led by Mark Renton (played by Ewan McGregor
- Star Wars, Moulin Rouge) and the centrality
narrator of this macabre story intriguing yet. We
as he tries to get off heroin and how this effect his friends - Spud (Ewen Bremner
- snatch., The Acid House) a fool, naive, never hurt-a-fly kind of
addicted to heroin who serves as the film Oaf; disease Boy (Jonny Lee Miller
- Dracula 2000, hackers) a selfish, manipulative and cunning
heroin Junkie obsessed with James Bond who secretly despises Renton;
Tommy (Kevin McKidd - The Acid House), the only sincere friend of Renton's
that is drug and alcohol free, and Francis Begbie (Robert Carlyle
- The Full Monty, Riff Raff) a deranged, violent alcoholic
madman with a mean temper and a large knife. The story follows the Renton
struggle to get off drugs and start a life
to interact with their friends and, finally, organizing a drug deal with them at the end to strike it rich
.
'Trainspotting' is an almost perfect image with an extraordinary performance,
direction and writing. The performances are nothing short of first-class
in 'Trainspotting'. Ewan McGregor gives his best and perhaps most unjustly ignored
screen performances as your hero and heroine struggling
Junkie. The plays the role with such authenticity and passion for the craft of acting
than ever believe that it was not a heroine in real life
Junkie. Ewen Bremner is amusing as the film's idiotic, but Jonny Lee Miller
surprisingly, offers an outstanding performance as Renton's slippery
called friend. Kevin McKidd is good as Tommy and Kelly MacDonald
do a good job with his acting debut as Renton juvenile to establish that
becomes something like a mentor for him as the film progresses. One of the
absolute best performances in this film is by Robert Carlyle, most
known as a British acting coach. It is difficult to explain why it is so
wonderful, but I'll try. The plays the bad guy in a way that makes you uncomfortable and scared
watching him. If he has talent and is
is not easy to do for any actor. Danny Boyle gives us
impressive camera work and has some Tarantino-ish qualities, which makes it one of
the most talented filmmakers working in the independent film industry.
There is a scene in which the main character, Renton,
is going through withdrawal and he has a hallucination of a friend of the deceased child
child crawls up on her bedroom wall and turn his head around the
way around a sort of exorcism Linda Blair style. It is a scene but
freaky is also a carefully layered and impressive scene that shows Danny Boyle
for directing talents to be most impressive. John Hodge (who writes
most films Boyle) does a great job capturing the material
Welsh of the innovative and provocative novel that should have earned him an Oscar
in the 1997 Academy Award ceremony. Cinematography is
constantly surprising, but editing the film is a little chopped. But that's
not really something to get bent out of shape, because the
rest of the film is always engrossing especially the magnificent and extensive
banda sonora including music from Blur, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop.
However, 'Trainspotting' is an amazing achievement of indie
British filmmaker Danny Boyle who also made the highly successful indie
break "regular and serious" starring by Ewan McGregor and great failure "
The Beach" starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Carlyle. If you've never seen
"Trainspotting" and have a strong stomach and a desire to see something peculiar
still bright, make sure the rental of his next stop in
the videostore. If you've seen and liked enough to buy it,
sure to get the 2-disc special edition DVD with an excellent
extras including long-term audio commentary with some insightful information
. 'Trainspotting' is the film that began with my love
indie cinema. Be sure not to lose. Grade: A
